1021 has 2 more HDMI inouts, Stand-by pass-trough feature, and a little more power. The stand-by pass-through was the big selling point for me. Oh and I got it for $289.

Standby pass-through
Standby pass-through is another HDMI-centric feature that enables the receiver to continue to pass audio and video signals over HDMI, even when the receiver is in standby (off) mode. This flexibility is nice for times when you may not want to fire up your full surround sound system (such as late at night), but still want to access your home theater gadgets and use your TV's built-in speakers.

difference between 921 and 1021: 1021 has an ethernet port wich implies that you can connect Ipad via the WiFi in stead of via the Bluetooth adapter wich can be bought separately? Is this correct?

I ordered a 921 (in Belgium that is) but I'm thinking of changing to the 1021 because of this feature. I'm really new at this and like some help, please!

Well it dosen't look that works that simple , you can connect the receiver with your Itunes library via Ethernet port or adapter , your Ipad will need to be connected via USB/video cable that comes with the receiver . As i can understand , Ipad's are like Iphone's and Ipod's they have a music file they don't have your Itunes library .

From the Pioneer site on the VSV-1021-K

Quote:
AirPlay®

One of the most exciting new features of the VSX-1021-K is AirPlay. With AirPlay you can stream music from iTunes to the VSX-1021-K and play it through your home theater system. Simply connect the receiver to your home network via Ethernet or Pioneer's optional wireless adapter (AS-WL300) and it instantly becomes the hub for playback of your iTunes music from your connected Apple device or networked computer.

You can even use the receiver to view metadata including song title, artist as well as album art on a connected display. Download Apple's free "Remote" application and use your Apple device as a remote control. With AirPlay, there's really no reason why your iTunes music has to be restricted to your computer!
Quote:
Made for you. And your iPad®, iPhone® and iPod®

Unlike other receiver lines, thanks to Apple® compatibility for iPod, iPhone, and now iPad, most generations of Apple portable devices are easily connected with the included USB/video cable - so there's no need to buy a separate dock to access all your music, videos, streaming content, and photos stored on your Apple portable devices.

Plus, since your iPhone iPod and now your iPad charges automatically when connected, it's the ultimate plug-and-play integration with your home theater. You can enjoy music with iTunes® album art, share videos and movies, downloaded TV shows from iTunes, photos, web content such as YouTube® and much more. And because the iPhone device's network features remain fully functional, you can still take that call. Music and movies simply mute and you're good to go. And you've got lots of control options--use the iPhone directly, or push a single button on the VSX-1021-K's front panel to switch control to the included preset remote and an intuitive, full-color GUI.

as long as your iDevice is connected to the same network I think it streams that way, or you can get the bluetooth thing. or just plug it into the receiver with that hideous wire from the front like I do because they didn't feel like making a dock and my iPod has all my music, so thats my library.

can I adjust the crossover for individual speakers? I coulda sworn I found it but now I can't seem to do it again. I'd just like to drop the crossover of my front left and right to maybe 60 or 70 and leave the rest of my speakers at 80. It seems to only let me have an 80 crossover across the board or a 50. vsx-1121 receiver btw.

Anyone have issues with the screen going blank for a few seconds and then just coming back on? Seems to be random... but thankfully it never does it when I'm gaming, just watching cable or movies. Maybe some settings in the PS3 are not compatible with the 821?

Am I right in saying that the 821 does not allow bi-amping, but the 921 and 1021 do?

Thanks.
