From The Earth to the Moon Signature (widescreen, 5-disc) Edition (HBO Films). This is as good as it gets in the world of the mini-series. Produced by the same team that brought us 'Apollo 13' (Ron Howard/Brian Grazer/Tom Hanks), and with many of the best composers around including the late, great Michael Kamen providing the score, this is worth watching again and again.

Having grown up in the '60s (ouch), I remember most of the moments recalled in this series, and it is somewhat amazing to remember how much history in the making we experienced back then. Once I turn it on, forget it - I'm gone until it ends.

Seven Samurai is one of my favorite movies - period. Battle of Algiers is a very relevant movie. Very interesting choices

I thought Michael Kamen did Band of Brothers... did he also do From The Earth To The Moon? I know Mark Mancina did one of the episodes...

Here is an interesting choice from the world of concert blus...

Metallica's S&M performance with the San Fransisco Symphony Orchestra. Imagine that in Dolby PCM.

Michael Kamen did episodes 1, 4 and 12 (of 12). Mancina did episode 2, which was about Apollo 1. Mark Isham, James Newton-Howard and others filled out the rest of the series.

One of the things I really love about this series is how many little details were brought out. Hanks' passion for the subject really shows.

Firefly

...I'm for anything that is Joss related (Buffy, Angel, Serenity - Grrr! Universal), but if I only get to choose one - Firefly: The Complete Series (this totally counts as it is only one season).

On a completely unrelated note, the rights to Metallica's S&M Concert's DVD release is Warner...so here's to a miracle.
