If I recall correctly, the person I talked to at ICV said that they were expecting to release it in July or August. Hopefully we'll also get the HK version of "Grave of Fireflies" and "My Neighbour Totoro"

For me at least, the separate blu ray edition of each would look good in collection rather than having them both in a boxset. |

That will probably be the case, but as I've already preordered at YesAsia, and they can't cancel that order, there's not really anything I can do about it now :P

Like some have mentioned, it would have been nice if they would have been clear what each release contained - exactly. How hard is it to post some pictures of the product! Luckily for me at the last minute I changed the order to te LE set from YesAsia that contained all the goodies, including the color pencil set that I've haven't seen at other online retailers. I've also ordered the Tortoro/Graveflies Box Set, and seeing what's happened with Poppy I wouldn't be surprised if the set includes the standard releases in a box. But who knows? Be nice
It's only a movie.

I was so pissed. It took 7 days for it to arrive from Yesasia.. PS: I finally had the chance to watch the film.. The animation was top notch, again as expected.. The story is not your typical Ghibli. It's somewhat melodramatic but not enough emotions.. It felt abit flat.. But what I enjoyed the most though was the setting. I could've just watch the main character wander around various place of Yokohama. The musical score were all lovely. Most of the score had familiar tune. I was surprised to find out that Sukiyaki was adapted from "I Shall Walk Looking Up" which is one of the soundtrack of the film. I knew I've heard of that song before! It's no Whisper of the Heart but for what it is it's good. From Up on Poppy Hill is still missing some sparks. Last edited by ChichiriNoDa; 06-27-2012 at 08:44 AM. |

I saw that one, but i was thinking more of a photo of them standing vertically on a shelf, out of the plastic, and photographed under better lighting condions pehaps....
Another question: In what order do you place them on the shelf, considering that they're Japanese? In chronological order from left to right OR right to left? |

I noticed that Howl's Moving Castle has the title both in Japanese and in English on the spine, why is that? None of the other ones have. Also; it's a pity that part of the Nausicaä silhouette is visible on the spine. Still, the artwork is so stunning otherwise so I'm not complaining....too much.
Waiting on Poppy Hill LE, which will be my first Japanese Ghibli BD, from CDJapan. I've also ordered Arrietty and Ponyo, but from Yesasia as it was a bit cheaper there with the shipping being FREE and all. Got the UK BD of Arrietty as well as I wanted the Brittish dub. I generally watch the films with the Japanese dub, but they talk so fast that it's a bit hard to keep up with the subtitles sometimes and it's nice to be able to just relax and watch a film without having to deal with that. (and the English dubs are pretty good as well) Last edited by ALLIED_GOONIE; 06-28-2012 at 01:21 AM. |

Another thing to note is that for the Hong Kong releases by IVL, all the titles on the spine are rendered in Japanese, Chinese, AND English! See the 4 furthest right movies in the picture below:
Forget The Evil Dead; what George Lucas has done to Star Wars since 1997 is truly "The Ultimate Experience in Grueling Terror".
