The pre-order just became available. Never saw the film but i've been collecting all the digibooks so now would be the time to check it out!

Isn't this one in need of a remaster because of DNR issues?

Could be, it was one of the first movies to push the grain-vs-restoration issue.
But just as likely a repackaging to cash in on the traditional Memorial Day push.

(Best to wait for some advance review before saying "Scott, you magnificent bastard, I bought your book!"

The guys from The Digital Bits said that Fox was planning on re-doing the transfer in the near future. Hopefully this is that version.

I didn't really have a problem with the original release, so it looks like I'll be passing on this.

Got the DNR version REALLY cheap so I checked it out, never had seen this movie before. It's BRILLIANT but one of the WORST cases of DNR I've ever seen... I mean holy crap George C. Scott seriously looks like a WAX figure throughout the film... This movie TOTALLY needs a remaster, and I will buy it

I was incredibly unhappy with the original BD release for this title, so if they re-do it properly, I'd be more than willing to buy it again. Gotta wonder if it'll actually be a new disc though, because it looks like Fox is reissuing a number of releases as digibooks using the same discs as the previous releases.

I own the existing BD of Patton. While I really like Digibooks of classics I will not doubledip on this one unless there has been a remaster/upgrade of the disc. No upgrade = no buy!

Never owned this but will wait for the review.Been wanting to purchase this but have been hearing mixed reviews.Will wait for a good transfer.

Can you provide a quote or link? On the contrary, here's what he posted at The Digital Bits on 3/16/2011:

"We'd love to say that Patton and Master and Commander have been given new HD masters, but it's unlikely as these appear to be the same discs as before, just with new packaging."

Oh man this would be a day one purchase if its a re-done version.

I thought Miramax/Disney was pretty quiet when they re-released Gangs of New York, I just went to the store one day and saw a sticker on the plastic. Hopefully this is the same kind of deal, but I won't get my hopes up.

Dang, I just ordered the current edition for $13.99. Not to mention I got The Usual Suspects as well. I wonder if they're doing a new transfer for it as well?

However, I'm all for The Terminator. Would be nice if T2 got some loving treatment, Lionsgate/StudioCanal.

i was going to ask if you watched this movie on a 19" but after looking at your gallery, i'm pretty impressed! i guess if you don't mind the transfer, then that's all that matters.

i on the other hand, would be willing to double-dip if this is the 000000.1% chance that it turns out with a new, improved transfer (and i also dig digibooks). it probably helped that i only got Patton for $4.33 when it was part of the 3-pack with Behind Enemy Lines and Rescue Dawn, which was $13 clearance when I got it at Blockbuster

I'll admit, I watched it over a year ago, on a 55" TV, and at this point I would probably notice DNR more than I would have then. So I might have to re-watch it.
