In a couple of weeks, the U.S. will see the debut of the Blu-ray for BABE, but its sequel, BABE: PIG IN THE CITY, is nowhere to be found as a preorder or even as a forthcoming title in the weeks or months ahead. However, at the same time, PIG IN THE CITY is seeing a (presumably region-free) Blu-ray release in the UK. I'm not saying a release strategy like this is unprecedented but I certainly don't recall ever seeing an example like it before and my collection is not a slight one. So here's my question--does anyone have any insight into whether PIG IN THE CITY might see a retailer exclusive release (like this week's HAPPINESS IS A WARM BLANKET, CHARLIE BROWN, only at Walmart) here in the U.S., or are we just truly a no-go all around for BABE's fascinating sequel?

Being in the UK, I can't comment on whether there will be any store exculsives, but I can only guess it's not being released in the US due to lack of popularity, like so many other movies where only the first movie gets released and not its sequel(s).
Ask me any question about Doctor Who and I'll know the answer.

Universal often releases films in the UK before the US for some reason.
Off the top of my head, right now then UK has... Happy Gilmore Billy Madison Bulletproof Liar Liar Dead Silence Smoky and the Bandit And others.... |

But, and correct me if I'm wrong, aren't those titles HD-DVD ports? This is a brand new release--if Universal went through the trouble of making a fresh high-def master for this, why not maximize their profit potential? Even if it's a low seller in the U.S., that'd be better than NO sales in the U.S., I would think.

I haven't seen anything about it being an exclusive. It is odd though but similar to how Legally Blonde 2 is coming to blu-ray before Legally Blonde.

What's the problem if you just want to get it, import it. It's not that hard for people to do.

If you look at my collection listing, you'll see that's exactly what I'm doing, but it's still a minor inconvenience because a) it'll likely take several days longer to get here than if I had a domestic option, b) it's more expensive than a domestic option would probably be and c) the case won't match alongside my domestic Blu-ray of the first film. None of these are huge issues, mind you; I merely asked the original question out of a sense of (somewhat irritated) curiosity, not some misplaced sense of panic.
