![]() Hansel & Gretel Blu-ray Twitchfilm Review Koreanfilm.org Review This hidden gem was released by Media Blasters/Tokyo Shock with next to no fanfare on March 8, 2011. I didn't know much about this film prior to getting it, but it's another Korean beauty in similar vein as The Tale of Two Sisters. The release contains both the DVD and Blu-ray of the movie. The blacks on the picture are sometimes crushed, but for the most part, the PQ and AQ are excellent with fine details. Highly recommended for the fans of Korean cinema and other fans of horror/suspense. Amazon has this for ~$15. Region-free SL BD-25 Video: 1080p24 1.85:1 AVC encoded Audio: Korean dts HD MA 2.0 or dts HD MA 5.1 Subtitles: Optional English Extras: Trailer for Death Trance in SD ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Really??
Wow, good movie, though I wouldn't call it "suspense", more like dark fantasy. TV - Panasonic TC-P50U50 | Blu-ray - Insignia NS-WBRDVD2 - Toshiba BDX1100 | Receiver - Onkyo TX-SR607 | Fronts - Technics Towers | Center - Infinity PC251 | Surrounds - Technics Minis | Sub - BIC America V1220

Do you have a UPC? Where did you get it? I can't find it at Amazon.

I saw the film at the cinema a couple of years ago and have been hoping for a US release since the UK DVD is an NTSC/PAL conversion. Never expected to see it on Blu-ray!
My copy is on the way (from DVD Pacific). http://dvdpacific.directtoustore.com...nsel&st=Movies Last edited by Philly Q; 03-29-2011 at 05:59 PM. |

Thanks! I wonder why I couldn't get it to come up.

Of course I am. It's impossible not to see. Hell, just look at the thick edged lines the black bars themselves have. The one screenshot it stands out the most is the third one from the top. Look at the little girl's jewelry in particular. And her shirt collar.

Quality is pretty dang good for <$16. I wish all Korean movies released outside of Korea was at least as good as this. Solid uncut 1080p24 picture with lossless audio and optional subtitles (not burned in). I saw Black Swan right after this one, and PQ on this cheapo release is sharper and more highdef than Black Swan. That's not to say that Black Swan is a bad transfer. I'm sure that BS faithfully recreates every grain and nuance of the original film, but the overall pop and wow, this is better. There is no extras other than the trailer for Death Trance on the BD. This does come with a DL DVD that also contains the movie. I don't know if there are extra features on the DVD.

How in the hell does Media Blasters release this without anyone knowing? They've delayed almost every release they've had yet just throw this out there...
