The Long Riders Blu-ray The Long Riders Blu-ray Review another site says this is coming June 7th. amazing! another great MGM western. (apparently it came out in 1980--bd.com lists 1979 for the German bd) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Long_Riders poster art-- http://www.moviegoods.com/Assets/pro...917.1020.A.jpg . Wow, this and Quigley Down Under are two of my favorites and they are coming out within weeks of each other.
Now the real pain begins, Danny-boy.

Thrilled about this; it's one of my favorite Westerns. I didn't think we would see it coming to BD for a long time.
It was in the reign of George III that the aforesaid personages lived and quarreled; good or bad, handsome or ugly, rich or poor, they are all equal now.

For me, the long riders was my favorite western until I saw Tombstone but it's still my second choice. I know so many prefer Unforgiven and while it is good, it just didn't do as much for me as LR and TS. Glad this is on it's way to the shelves!
2521 titles on disc... of those, 926 are Blu-Ray, 61 are 3D.

This was a day #1 for me, as I really like the movie. I saw it just last night, prior to seeing the review, and I pretty much concur.
It is a noticeable upgrade from the DVD, which I have(had). I'm not a huge fan of grain, but don't like the over DNR alternative...so with that said, this movie got about the best transfer with the budget a movie like this would command. My biggest beef as a total lack of extras. I'm a huge fan of Bonus Features, and I cringe every time a catalog comes out with next to nothing. I guess there was nothing in the vaults for this movie. All in all, for the $13.99 preorder price I paid, I can't complain too much. If you were a fan of this on DVD, I can safely say you will be happy with the blu-ray upgrade. |

my local Wal-marts had been getting in all these inexpensive MGM catalogs until this week.
I've been to 3 stores and not one title--no New York, New York, no Long Riders, etc. etc. don't really understand why this week was different, but it's time for another amazon order. I'm done hunting. |

Just watched last night and was very pleased with the presentation. I had never seen it before though I generally like Walter Hill (I wish an original version of THE WARRIORS was available on bd!) and liked very much. I just finished my first draft review (on the film's merits not A/V quality) and will post in a few days.
