Default The Crow City of Angels by Echo Bridge Entertainment on May 3rd.

The Crow: City of Angels Blu-ray 1080i DTS-HD MA 2.0 86m

The Crow: City of Angels Blu-ray Review

The Crow: City of Angels / The Crow: Wicked Prayer Blu-ray Sept 11, 2012 1080p DTS-HD 5.1
City of Angels: 91m

I didn't mind this film, it was no where near as good as the first. But I loved the cinematography. It was fantastic. Now the putrid Echo Bridge is releasing it in a 1080i transfer. 1080i, wtf? I hate these guys with a passion.

It's already out at a lot of Best Buys. Even the artwork looks bootleg.

As in cheap paper or print quality? The blu-ray cover uses the same elements as found on the previous DVD release but the elements are just moved around a bit for the blu-ray release.

Both, from the looks of it. It looks like the bootleg movies you see at comic shows and such.

ya know, 1080i is the least of the problems on this disc. there are numerous people who freak the F out, with the (incorrect) belief that the BDA must do some magic quality control on discs.

there are numerous WONDERFUL looking 1080i releases. additionally, take the Gunslinger Girl releases, the 1080p one looks like crap, the 1080i one looks fantastic.

if you're going to say it's butchered, you should mention that it is DVD quality on Blu-ray, not just say zomg 1080i.

/the more you know.

The UK release of The Crow is 1080i and it looks great. The German release of Casshern is 1080i and it looks fking amazing. The US release of Gojira, despite the fact it's sourced from a damaged print, it looks good for a 57 year old film presented in 1080i.

I don't personally have anything against 1080i, but with Hi Def standards today, why not just encode it in 1080p? that's all I am saying.

"hi def standards?" elaborate. do you really believe such a thing exists?

1080i is not end of the world. as is pointed out in this thread, there are numerous 1080i releases that are quite stunning. heck, look at the BBC nature documentaries. i don't see people complaining about picture quality on those...save for the uninformed, of course.

if you want to gripe about Crow 2: Craptastic Boogaloo, perhaps you should complain about more than just the i. there is PLENTY to find fault with, here, rather than just a letter.

also, Crow from the UK is Region B locked. only Crow disc that plays in Region A players is the Japanese version.

Yeah, it think it's a pretty good transfer. I've watched it several times. I've got a lady friend who will be excited to see this movie in HD.

Hi def standards? of course there is. When about 98% of other releases are getting a 1080p upgrade and DTS HD or Dolby true HD audio. Hey, I am not knocking down 1080i, my canadian rls of mortal kombat in 1080i is very good, but i am just pointing out the obvious. Hell, I am grateful if a movie gets a 720p upgrade. its still an upgrade.

as for the jap crow rls, i'll look into it. thanks for the info

Cause Echo Bridge rushed their crap to the shelves without a care as to quality. Hopefully whoever owns the rights to the original film will take their time and do it right. I'm all for waiting however long it takes for a proper release as opposed to a half-assed one.

The UK release of the original usually didn't fare so well in the reviews, and is also a 1080i disc. Yes, I read the previous argument about that. I have the Japanese release and it's pretty damn good. Lots of detail, fine film grain throughout, and great sound quality. No complaints, I doubt I'll even bother getting the US version whenever it finally comes out. I've read almost nothing but disappointment for the UK one. Plus the artwork looks like a sixth grade project
