Default Pride & Prejudice (1995) Reissue - ?

I just came across this reissue for BBC/A&E's 1995 P&P - anyone know why there is a reissue?

I can't find any news on the boards here. All I see is that there is a different cover, but the technical specs listed are the same.

Reissue version:

2009 released Blu version:

I am curious about this as well. I read a comment on Amazon that this was full screen instead of wide screen, but there is no confirmation.

I just bought this last week and can confirmed that this is presented in Widescreen and all the specs match the written specs of the original issue.

Most likely, it's only a change in packaging.

Does anyone know why this was reissued. I picked up the reissued version. It appears to be a blu-ray/dvd combo. The original looks like a blu-ray only. Is this the only difference?

They changed the cover art b/c they created new cover art for the DVD version. They figured that they'd use the new cover art for the Blu-ray as well.

benzgrl is talking about these two covers:

The first cover art was taken from an early DVD release. Once they made a new transfer for the Blu-ray, they also took the master and created a DVD version. That's why the Blu-ray was given new cover art very soon after the first one came out.

Blu Jedi Master is talking about this adaptation:

Same Blu-ray, Universal just added a DVD in the re-release.

blu-ray_girl - thanks so much, you're the best!

I have to say I like the new cover better for the BBC 1995, but I'm sticking w/ my original.

And for the 2005 movie - I bought the DC a while ago on the trade thread here - gotta have my P&P wherever I go.

Now if only they'd stop the re-issues and give me some Sense & Sensibility & Emma movie adaptations, I'll be a happy camper!

I know it's not a Blu-ray, but Target has the TV miniseries of Emma with Kate Beckinsale for $5 usually.

I'm dying to get Sense & Sensibility on BD, but it must include the superb commentary with Emma Thompson -- it's the only commentary I've listened to more than once.

Oh yeah and the extras should include Emma's brilliant acceptance speech at the 1996 Golden Globes!

But I'm speaking of the Gwyneth Paltrow (1996 version).

I know the Aussie's got the Blu version a few years ago, but I remember from these boards that the transfer was horrendous:

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Emma-Blu-ray/12635/

Re-visiting this topic now, I just realized since the last time I checked, a German and UK version has since been released:

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Emma-Blu-ray/27209/
http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Emma-Blu-ray/35723/

Wait, it turns out the UK version is just as horrendous:

It's too bad because there are some beautiful scenes in this film.

I have the British disc and it looks terrible. I am not exaggerating when I say the transfer is abysmal. I don't know whether to risk buying the German disc or wait for an American release.
