Completely wrong, there is no complete Blu-ray set for all ten seasons. The complete set will only be on DVD. Here is the confirmation:

not happy about this... the older seasons look good on abc family, HDnet, and the cw "pliot" episode in 1080i. so this is just b.s in my book.

i think i would much rather have them release the sets seperately. The have been releasing them on blu since season 6 which means we already have half of them in hd. more than that if you count season 5 on hd dvd. i doubt most would sell off what they have just to re buy them in a whole set.

It comes down to sales projections. I think if the complete set was a more reasonable length, like six seasons, that a complete Blu-ray set would have been released. But releasing 10 seasons in one package is a gamble and expensive risk. Blame the declining sales of television product on home video.

Absolute rubbish, who in this day and age still goes out and spends over 100 on a DVD boxset?? 5 seasons of Smallville being in HD and then they release a complete set on DVD only

it could have been upscaled to 1080i, so no true HD.... Of course it looks better than SD because of the Bandwidth but not good enough for a Blu-ray release...

i'm sorry, but releasing 480p content is BS, i understand it's a business but damn come on! if abc could release a bluray boxset for lost, which correct me if i'm wrong came out in 2004, WB could release a bluray boxset if they wanted, because really they would only have to redo seasons 1-4, but 5-10 are good to go, sorry but I call BS, they should reward their fans with a bluray boxset for supporting smallville for an entire decade! really pisses me off honestly

Still irked by this...I was really wanting to get this on blu. I actually sold my season in hope of a blu-ray box set because we'd heard rumors that it was being worked on. Wish I hadn't now.

You're not the only one annoyed! I won't touch the Dvd releases. I want Blu! One day, I'll have a projector. I have a list of movies/shows I will not watch again, until I have a projector, and of course the blu-ray.
I suppose the same thing will probably happen to supernatural...

Perhaps they'll start with a season 1 release, and see how it goes. Hey, I can be hopeful!

I have a feeling we will see news about it soon, if I have to I will settle for 1-4 on DVD and 5-10 on BD, I get the feeling 1-4 won't look that good in HD anyway.

YOu may be right. I notice that the upcoming tenth release is only 4 discs! That's appalling to say the least. Squeezing that many episodes on 4 discs is not a good idea. The dvds are not gonna look good. The BD's shouldn't suffer(Love X264), but dvd is not so forgiving...

Posted today on The Digital Bits:
Quote:
the studio is also readying a Smallville: The Complete Series box set for release on DVD only on 11/29

...

Some fans may be wondering why this set isn't being released on Blu-ray, and it's because very early episodes of the show weren't finished in such a way as to make them immediately high-def ready (visual effects weren't done at the necessary resolution, etc). Warner has been trying to figure out some way to release them on Blu-ray that wasn't cost-prohibitive, and apparently hasn't accomplished that yet.

Whew! Looks like smallville season 10 is 6 discs after all. That's a relief. 4 discs would have been appalling.
