Would someone please explain this to me? I was looking for this movie on BD today and found that it is still not released...but then I saw this one:
Charlie [IMPORT] What exactly is this? It says import, but it also says it's in English. Please educate me. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Blu-ray ^^Get Charlie import from Amazon UK . Last edited by Deciazulado; 05-26-2011 at 04:36 PM. |

That's probably the UK import.

Would a fair assumption be that the US release is imminent based on the availability of this import?

Yup, I got my copy from them for £9.98 (and it still is 50% off).

The UK version is fantastic.
You can buy it here if your in the States for about $18-$20 shipped to your door. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Charlie-Choc...8755035&sr=8-7 Just use your American ID and password for everything. You don't do anything different than when you order an American movie. The movie disc has no compatibility issues with US players. |

I am quite satisfied with both the PQ and AQ. I'm not a magnifying glass pirate, and although I would not quite consider this disc demo material, it is a solid 4/5 on both counts. Burton's use of colours is well showcased here. I would have no issues recommending it to you based on PQ and AQ.
As far as movie quality goes, you’ll have to decide that on your own. Many people criticise this version when compared to the Willy Wonka version (nostalgia is likely the issue here). I liked it on first viewing, and since my three year old loves to watch it (over and over it seems), it continues to grow on me as a movie. It doesn’t have so much depth that new bits are realised with each viewing, but it just hasn’t gotten stale yet – much of that due to my love for Burton’s visual style. .

I wouldn't be surprised if this comes to the US roundabout when Alice in Wonderland hits with Depp/Burton.

This is for the Tim Burton version?
I think the UK release for the original will also be a digibook, which I have no need for. I was hoping the UK release would be a ordinary BD case

My avatar will Wait Until Dark for a Roman Holiday since this world as War & Peace and it would be fun to actually have Breakfast At Tiffany's with My Fair Lady http://letterboxd.com/pat_mtl/ |

Yeah, I've experienced this. I prefer this version, as it feels truer to the book. The Willy Wonka version was geared too heavily for kids of that generation IMO. It's very bubble-gum. The book was far creepier...like this movie that bears its actual name.
