I don't know, I liked the 3pt system (3 for RT win, 2 for OT win, 1 for OT loss and 0 for a RT loss) I found it gave an incentive to both teams during RT to get that extra goal.

If a team is one goal down they have the extra incentive that 1 point is better than 0 no matter what happens in OT (I will use ORT for OT and SO) and so they are better off getting that goal and tie the game even if it is the last second

If a team is one goal up they have the extra incentive that even if they win in OT they still lost a point (max of 2 instead of 3).

And when it is a tie they both have an extra incentive to get it over with since 3 points is better than 2,1 or 0.

I like your choice as second best just because I agree that a OT win is not the same as a RT win. but let's face it, the issue I have, is that a team that is exhausted at the end of the 3rd has less incentive to try and tie it up if there is a real possibility that in OT when they will be even more tired that they won't just lose and so that extra effort was all for nothing.

------------------
Also I am not a fan of SO. For me that is not hockey, since the other 65 minutes it was a team sport. I would rather see extra OT periods even if less players. on the ice

(how about 10 minutes OT where it is 4+1 in the first, 3+1 in the second 2+1 in the third and then SO if needed?)

I'm happy my Hawks made it in. It's nice to see us heating up right before the playoffs, but our goalies scare the crap out of me. Toews is cleared for contact and Keiths suspennsion is almost up. Playoffs should be interesting.
Movies I want to go Blu. The Ref, Open Range, Shipping News, Life As A House, Great Outdoors, True Lies, Joe Dirt, Maximum Overdrive, Pool Hall Junkies, Brain Candy.

T.V. shows I want to go Blu Man Vs. Wild, Survivor Man, Dirty Jobs, NHL Winter Classic 2009.

You make some interesting points but you've used a lot of "if's" to get you're meaning across. For me, it isn't such a technical break down. It is win or lose, no if and/or but. You either win or lose and if you lose you don't deserve a point. This isn't little league, it's the pro's.

agree, but if that was 100% true you should also give 2pts to an overtime win since that is a win. Personally I feel RT is RT and OT is OT, so if it makes it sound better take it this way, 0 for loss, 3 for win, 1 for a tie in RT, and then the OT starts and the winner of OT gets 1 while loser gets 0

Agreed, loser should get 0 points... And I hate shoot outs
When i got home that evening, I went straight to the garage and practiced my draw and SHOUT techniques as well as my roll, somersault and aim drills and made myself a promise that I would never ever be caught off-guard again.-dfinch

Anyone else see the end of the Flyers/Pens game? HATE is in the air. I hope they play in the 1st round. Did any of you guys see that knob behind the Philly bench in the Malkin jersey, trying to look like Hulk Hogan and yelling at the Philly bench. Even the announcers were making fun of him.

The game was on TV?
On a Canadian network?

I was too busy to watch this afternoon but I'm actually looking at the numbers and it seems that Fleury wasn't at his best the Pens outshot the Flyers 47-26...

Am I alone thinking that Fleury isn't really good? He have one hell of a team that block a lot of shot and he is rarely having more than 30 shots in a game and IMHO that's the reason he have so many wins. I think is just an average overpaid goalie.

It's almost official we will have a Pitt-Philly first round. I already see the Cindy Crosby signs for the games in Philadelphia.

This will be a tough round!

We're barely holding onto a playoff spot, I should be the one worried

Us too! Should make our last two games interesting lol
I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened...

His name is Cy Clark. He comes to EVERY Pens home game! He is pretty much an icon here.
BTW, it isn't nice to make fun of someone who has battled with cancer.

Sucks that the Pens lost today!
