Indeed they are taking their sweet time to announce any retailer exclusives over here in the US (and I'm still waiting to see if my UK amazon exclusive preorder is worth the import). The suspense is killing me!!
Fun Fact: I am the same height ( 5'1'') as Carrie Fisher, Jean Harlow, Holly Hunter, Christina Ricci, Ellen Page, Emilie De Ravin, Anna Kendrick, Kristen Bell...yes great things do come in small packages :)

MOVIE POSTERS FOR SALE!

Thanks for the input! I've added it to my wishlist as my birthday is next month (almost forgot!) so I'll hope that someone orders that for me. But now I'll be wary if there's an exclusive set somewhere!

My apologies if this was answered, I went through a bunch of pages in this thread and did not see the answer.
Amazon are adverting it as region free and seeing as Paramount rarely region lock anymore I think its safe to say it will be region free.

Wrong; the UK has an Amazon exclusive that allegedly will be encased in a replica of the Ark of the Covenant that has not been offered through any U.S. vendors.

Where are you getting this "ark of the covenant replica" stuff from? I haven't seen any indication that that's what is going to happen beyond some poster in a thread saying "maybe it will be something like this". There hasn't been any word from the studio what it's going to be beyond a listing of some of the "extra" contents.

If that actually does end up being some "ark" packaging, I'll be cancelling.

Not sure why I seem to have hit your cranky button, but it's just something I'd read prior (I couldn't begin to remember exactly where...that's why I said "allegedly"). The important part is that it is an Amazon exclusive that apparently will not be offered by any U.S. vendors.

How am I "cranky" for asking where you're getting the idea that it's coming in some special "ark" packaging? You could've actually had some info that nobody else had. Apparently, it was a good thing I asked...

Four shittily phrased sentences when one polite one would have sufficed.

I'll be getting the UK one - nice fold-out digipak or whatever it's called. It looks much better than the sleeve design the U.S. has.

It all depends on if you pay for relese date delivery or not whther it be by being an Amazon Prime member or paying for it.

But that aside. I pre-order everything through Amazon because of their pre-order price guarentee. And they do not charge until it ships. But what I do is I 100% validate whether I want it or not by the Friday before the release and cancel if needed. By then you usually know of all the retailer exclusives and from the retailer ads you know if the price will go down.

It's unfortunate there aren't two different sets. The "complete" collection with all four movies and the "original" trilogy featuring the three movies that are worth a damn and do not feature Shia Lebeouf swinging from a tree like a jungle monkey and fencing like a damn olympian on a truck rampaging through a jungle. He was the Jar Jar Binks of the Indiana Jones world.

This is what irritates me the most about him. He just can't say no. It has to be nononononononono.

The problem is when the cardboard isn't completely cleaned out after they cut the paper - Fox titles often have little bits of cardboard floating around in there. Any debris between disc and cardboard will cause scratches - yes, it's harder to scratch Blu's to non-playable condition, but it just seems inane to me to have the most expensive box sets for collectors come out this way.

That said, the linked Amazon.uk set (which is very attractive - I think it looks so much better than the US one, even without the superior disc protection) is actually bit cheaper to pre-order than the U.S. one. The price you see on that page includes VAT, which is not subtracted until you start to check out as a non-US customer.

The total charge including US shipping is 38.91 pounds, which is about $61.

Already cancelled my US preorder and keeping my Amazon.uk one - just like Aliens, and Star Wars, they are cheaper and don't have silly cardboard pockets, so I'm very happy we have the option.

Was only going by their description which indicates its the exact same set also available at HMV/Play/Tesco/TheHut etc

I didn't exactly take your original post as that polite.

Your curt "wrong" (which I don't think anyone takes for "polite") followed by potential misinformation is what I was responding to. It's such a crime to ask someone who throws out some "new" information available nowhere else to - gasp - state their source. If you take offense to the way I asked, well... sorry. I thought I was following your lead, but maybe I took your original post the wrong way.
