If you have a PS3 you can save the pictures directly to the hard drive and view it on your TV. It really looks amazing.
Am i the only one not impressed by those screenshots to me the colors look to bland and dull. Does anybody know if they color corrected theses movies while they were doing the new transfers.

Guys, there is a spoiler tag that you should use when quoting a post w/ huge pictures!

My ratings, just for the hell of it.

Raiders of the Lost Ark - 10/10
Temple of Doom - 7/10
Last Crusade - 9/10
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - 8/10

No. Spielberg mentioned he only brightened a shot and these appear to be shots which were based upon the 2003 DVD release (I'm still assuming it's what they're using, the HD versions, for HDTV broadcast). Not every single Blu-ray needs to be as eye-gouging and overly vibrant as Avatar. Still expecting Spielberg to have 4K masters to work from for the Blu-ray release. Just look at every single Spielberg release on Blu-ray.
Why should these films be color corrected? Otherwise we'd get another The French Connection scenario on our hands. Goes for more of the aesthetic feel of the time period these films take place in. But I still don't care for the "sunburned" red skintones.
Of course I'm expecting an extremely high bitrate for all three films to be individual BD50s per the other Spielberg films on Blu which received its own disc for the film and others for the extras.

Rudeboy2025. I agree exactly with your ratings but it's an alternating toss-up between Temple of Doom and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for rating. Whenever I have the feel for an Indiana Jones marathon, I always play GUNGA DIN first then each film in "year" order (1935, 1936, 1938, 1957). More fitting since the Thuggee Cult is in GUNGA DIN and is the perfect set-up for Temple of Doom.

Agreed! this is pretty much how I rated them (though I was a tad harsher on Temple of Doom and Crystal Skull)
Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper?

Love the quality on the remaster, will hopefully be even better on disc!

And since everyone else is rating the series, ..., I'm doing it aswell!

Raiders of the Lost Ark: 11/10
Temple of Doom: 10/10
Last Crusade: 10/10
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: 9/10

Raiders is obviously the best and a masterpiece, but all of the sequels are amazing as well.

That's right! I'm a fan-boy and proud of it!

Exactly how I feel!

But I think the WOWOW screenshots are based more on a better quality HD master based upon the ones made for the 2003 DVDs. But just imagine the WOWOW with more film-grain/higher bitrate, possibly less "sunburn" skin-tone along with better detail derived from a 4K (it's immensely possible) remaster i.e. the awesomeness which was Minority Report and Saving Private Ryan (because both are Paramount) on a BD50 with AVC along with DTS-HD MA. Final result is you have the three Indiana Jones films looking the best it has ever looked possible on a home media format.
At least until Holographic Versatile Disc is a reality.

DAMMIT I still want GUNGA DIN on Blu-ray for the proper marathoning! there's also Secret of the Incas, I think it's the name of it, starring Charleton Heston as a prototypical Indiana Jones. Even right down to the outfit. If I keep looking up stuff for it I'd even want it on Blu-ray also, still Paramount, AND High Road to China!

EDIT: Have you read the books, comics and played the video games? If you have or planning on doing so, these are the smileys which would best describe how I feel for other Indiana Jones fans as dedicated.

Now that I've had some time to think about it I think my favorite line is from Raiders:

"What are you gonna do?"

"I dunno. I'm making this up as I go.

Did you REALLY have to quote saprano's entire post right after he let ricka know that he didn't have to quote his entire post?

I would agree with that. I will only buy KOTCS if they only sell it with the other 3 in a package deal.

Sometimes we hear of people who are “very” honest, “mostly” honest, or even “a little” honest.
Should we even use modifiers with the word honest? I don’t believe so. There are no degrees of honesty. Either we are honest or we aren't.

Ooops, sorry I got carried away. I mean really, is it that big of a deal? So you have to scroll a little more....gheesh!
I could also say that the onus could be placed on saprano for not placing spoiler tags in the first place.
Relax, everyone is here to have fun. I a few posts a new page will have turned and you won't have to scroll as much.

I'm ashamed to say that I haven't seen any of the adventure flicks which were the inspiration for Indy. I'm gonna have to look em up. *writes note*

I have played three Indy games I believe, at least games that I remember. Fate of Atlantis, The Infernal Machine and Emperor's Tomb. Fate of Atlantis is a classic adventure game which I have played through several times - excellent story, voice-acting and gameplay. Especially liked that you can choose different gameplay paths early on, for example Fists path if you want to fight more, and that the ending can be changed if you want to. The Infernal Machine and Emperor's Tomb are great as well, but I prefer point-and-click adventure over action-adventure.

I've read the graphic novel Indiana Jones and the Iron Phoenix, since I wanted to know what the game sequel to Fate of Atlantis could've been. I liked it, shame it got cancelled 'cus of German censorship laws. I've been meaning to read more Indy comics, but I haven't got around to it yet.

I have my beautiful DVD boxset from 2003 (gave the middle finger to Paramount when they tried to make me double dip in 2008 with those Special Edition DVDs) and I will gladly put my Blu-Ray versions in that case after purchasing them.

Amazingly, I still have the VHS tape my father recorded it onto. I hope it will finally be an extra on the Blu-Ray set. Its a great documentary.

How are you guys not seeing the increased detail, texture and sharpness in the new pics?

Are you viewing it on a computer? Its much better it look at it directly on your TV.

Whatever.

Anyway my ratings for the films would be:

Raiders-10
Doom-7
Crusade-10

I really didn't like TOD because it didn't have that adventure feeling like the other two.

I'm looking at them on a 10-inch monitor and even I can see a strikingly pronounced difference. Besides, when looking at the correct resolution the pics will be the same size anyway. I dunno what the hell Lou Gosset is looking at.

Is the "fly" a different part of the film, in addition to the bug-crawling-into-his-mouth moment?
