Default Denon X500 onscreen display disable possible?

This is a shot in the dark, but...

I just got a Denon X500 receiver that works pretty darned well for the price. I watch movies with some friends on a projector screen, but I can't seem to disable the on screen menu while watching a movie through HDMI from the blu-ray player.
Any time I increase/decrease the volume, a volume bar appears on the screen automatically. Same goes with changing volume settings for each speaker, etc...

I checked the manual page by page and don't see a way to turn it off. I want to display menu options on the receiver only, not the screen while playing a movie.
It's distracting, but I juggle volume levels to keep my neighbors from getting upset.

I am 99% sure I can't turn it off (it's the lowest-end receiver), but if someone can help out... awesome!
