Was lucky enough to see this in the one week it played near me theatrically. Despite being a mashup of perhaps up to ten or so genres, it somehow works amazingly. Very unique.

I was also lucky to catch this in the brief time it was at my university's art house theater. The RT score and mix of genres led me to it, and honestly I wouldn't call it a great movie, but still a good one worth seeing if you're into independent cinema and art house. It was surprisingly not far off from a conventional American indie flick. It relies more on mood and style than plot, but it does succeed in having good black and white cinematography. It has some excellent, memorable scenes. I've heard you'll like it if you're a fan of Jim Jarmusch, I have not seen any of his films so I can't comment there.

The director is from California and it was filmed there so it is actually an American film despite it being in Persian.

This is scheduled to come where I live next month (after being delayed from December as Birdman and The Theory of Everything were still running well) but it will likely only play late nights as it won't be a high-interest title like Still Alice or Mr. Turner (or the return engagement of Inherent Vice that's scheduled).

Pre-ordered it the moment it hit Amazon. Looks like a pretty solid and loaded release as well.

Fantastic movie - one of the very best from last year. Insanely overlooked. Ordered without hesitation.
