Default Sergio Leone in BLU

Mondo HE, an Italian distributor known for its involvement with classic Italian director Sergio Leone (DVD production and restoration) has announced that they are set to release two of his most beloved features on Blu-Ray this December: For a Few Dollars More and My Name is Nobody. Apparently both of those will transfered from brand new Hi-Def masters.

Bellow is the article in Italian as well as the the link to it (the relevant info is in bold black):

Nice, but they are straddling the fence, publishing it in Blu-Ray and HD HVD.

Doesn't say if there will be dialog and subtitles in anything but Italian (for the hard of hearing).

I think it is pretty reasonable to assume that they will be using these new restored Hi-Def masters...when they decide to, to use your classification, get off their arses.

Italian companies have been producing some remarkable prints as of late. I primarily write reviews for European cinema at TALK, and plenty of imports from Italy in particular, and have to point out that Ripley Home Video (www.rhv.it) and Minerva Classics (www.rarovideo.it) have consistently outdone Criterion during the last two years. MEDUSA and Fox-Italia (classic) are also excellent distribs.

Ciao,

Probably, like the Kurosawa movies, waiting for its own native-son country to enjoy sales first.

But, that usually means that someone else has already done the remastering first--which could get it here quicker--or that they haven't, which means the US version might improve on the bother of getting an import.

Thanks Pro-B. Appreciate the good news on this.

Anxiously awating how these newly remastered titles are going to look.

I seem to recall some exec. letting slip that the Sergio Leone Anthology would see a Blu release in the future and then recanting so as not to stifle the present dvd sales... or I could just have a great imagination & a bad memory .

Yessir, bring on the Leone. In regards to Kristin (sp?) being a female and liking westerns, even tho my wife isn't into msg boarding, count her in, too. From John Ford, to Peckinpah, to Eastwood, and especially Leone. We have a grand time watching those films together.
