I own both, and think both are excellent.
If I had to choose one, I'd pick Life, but you really can't go wrong with either. |

I don't have Human Planet (yet) as it doesn't feature the legendary Sir David Attenborough, which put me off it slightly. Life is an excellent documentary and features top notch audio/visual presentation.

I thought the same thing at first as well, but John Hurt does a fantastic job. Once I started it up, I immediately forgot about my previous gripe, and really enjoyed it. While no narrator could replace David Attenborough, in my opinion, he is the best replacement as one could hope for.
