![]() Hit! drops soon. Black Dynamite doesnt count. But where are the Blaxploitation Classics on BD. I know alot of them were low budget and wouldnt transfer too well but I would at least see the bigger ones out there. Shaft, Superfly, Foxy Brown, Black Caesar, Across 110th St, Car Wash, Sweetback, Trouble Man, Willie Dynamite, and Putney Swope. I hope they do a good job w/ HIT! and print this genre for a new generation. Williams and Pryor are common household names, so that's a little easier in terms of familiarity. The Superfly DVD was a terrible barebones release and has never been given a deluxe treatment. Some were filmed well and some werent. Last edited by Batmon77; 03-02-2012 at 07:56 PM. |

C'mon now. Where's that link on HIT!?
Also, although a highly underrated Sidney J Furie film, I wouldn't classify this as blaxploitation. It's a solid revenge drama with some action elements. Hit! is a sort of a French Connection Lite. |

I did a Google search and it led me back here. lol ....
I'm glad to see this released and hopefully a few more black/blackploitation genre films can make the jump to blu-ray like Across 110th st, Cotton Comes to Harlem, Coffy, Foxy Brown, The Mack (because the only way to control your females is to take them to the planetarium |

"Superfly" barebones? The DVD had a commentary, documentary, etc.
"Putney Swope" will be released by Criterion, but in DVD only sadly. |

William Smith on Boss ****** In a 1998 interview, Smith spoke of his experience filming Boss ******. Smith, who is white, said that he never felt any racial tension, despite the fact that production took place during the height of the Black Power movement. He went on to describe the making of the film: “ I was killed in ... Boss ****** by Fred Williamson. We had a great time with our fights. We went down to Arizona to film Boss with R.G. Armstrong. He had a lot of urban, black kids on the set. They were falling off their horses like Neville Brand did in Laredo — only they weren't drunk, of course. Fred and I had a great fight scene in that, more than one |

Superfly DVD review, with the extras listed, one of the best in its array of extras in blaxploitation.
Of course the real hope would be "Sweet Sweetback's..." from Criterion, with their laserdisc commentary and extras... |

Where does Live and Let Die fit into the Blaxploitation world? I've always liked that Bond film, just curious as you guys seem up on this genre.
Lloyd C. Cramden: Flint, How do you find time to read all these books?
Derek Flint: No, no, no, sir, I wrote those. In Like Flint (1967) |

Its not technically Blax, but it does pay heed to the movement. The white hero pretty much negates it despite The Harlem scenes. |
