Wait! You are buying a disc on what the cover looks like?

Best Buy should price Match Amazon's price of $16.99 since it's in the top 100 List, right?

Is $16.99 the cheapest price for the regular blu-ray?

Had a hard time finding a copy with a non-damaged slipcover. Future shop, then HMV then Best buy... find two copies that was good at best buy. I hate when this happens with a new release...

Is the Target digibook different than the digibook that comes in the box set?

Thank you Target for not putting a spider web theft deterrent contraption thingy on West Side Story! Perfect! Just have to wait for replacement disc in the future.

Popped into Target to pick up the digibook. I thought it might be a bit too large for their annoying plastic boxes, like "The Sound of Music" was.

I was right about that - but was mortified to see that the copies on the rack all had one of the awful spider-wrap devices on them - and yes, the wire had dug into the covers of all of them.

I asked an employee if he had any out back that didn't have the wraps. He said yes, but I'd have to pay for it in the video section - hardly a hardship!

After a couple of minutes he brought out a fine condition copy.

I hope that all Targets aren't doing this - a lot of product is going to be damaged if they do! (just noticed Paddy's post above mine - good news!)

Just picked up my copy from Target. I was worried that they were sold out (got there at 10:30a and the shelf was empty), so I asked the CSR if they had any additional stock. Thankfully, they kept their copies behind the counter, so I didn't have to worry about dealing with security cases or the dreaded spider security wraps.

As an FYI, if you don't see copies on the shelves, flag down a CSR in the entertainment department and ask them if they have stock. Chances are they might have more copies behind the counter or in the stockroom.

I don't think there's an entry for the Target Digibook, so I just submitted one (pending approval).

Can't wait to watch this in HD! Saw several high school productions of West Side Story over the years (I wish I was in one ) and love this musical!

I don't think it's on their website; the Limited Edition is, but not the Digibook. I wonder if that's due to its limited print run, and they didn't want to take orders that they couldn't fulfill (if demand was high).

I checked today in-store... it's not sold online, according to Target's internal system.

I'd be curious to know if the book content is exactly the same stuff that's included with the big box set.

Just bought the Target digibook. The shelf was empty, but I asked a team member in the area to look for it; after several minutes and a lot of help, another team member came out with one--without spider wrap. She told me they couldn't put BDs on the shelf without a security case or spider wrap, but they were completely out of both; thus they had to keep it in the back. Regardless, I got a pristine copy for $17.35 after REDcard discount & tax.
BD players: PS3 Slim 250GB; Sherwood BDP-5004 & Insignia NS-BRDVD4 (both region-free); HP P7-1010 w/ LG WH12LS38K, AMD HD 6570, TMT 3, 5 & 6, PDVD 11, Nero 11
A/V hardware: Vizio E3D320VX 3DTV; Sony HT-SS380 (PC also has Hanns-G HL227 & Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers)

AFAIK all copies are "defective", and the post right below yours seems to confirm it:

But I suggest you buy it anyway; I'm sure Fox will have a replacement program of some kind once they get MGM to fix the defective opening.

I still have my DVD anyway; it's part of a UA Best Picture boxset in thin cases that can't be broken up properly. Its opening is "defective" too, but in a different way: It displays the "starburst" (aka "GoldenEye") UA logo during the opening whistles. (IIRC, there was no studio logo on the 70mm roadshow prints; 35mm prints had UA's original "hexagon" logo.)

As long as the PM occurs before midnight PST on the release date, Amazon will refund the difference on preorders to your card later in the week--even if it shipped at a higher price. It's written into their preorder guarantee.

I don't care about the defective opening titles. It looks like a Nintendo Game Boy menu screen anyway.

All I care about is if the overall video/audio quality is good enough to buy it.
