Default When Harry Met Sally

When Harry Met Sally Blu-ray

When Harry Met Sally Blu-ray Review

_____

I did not find a thread for this one, so let me get it started...

Looks like all of our attention is on It's Mad, Mad, Mad world

I picked up both IMMMW and When Harry Met Sally from Wal Mart this week.

WHMS is one of my favorite and I have bought the previous LD and DVD edition.

Have not watched the whole thing, but tested few scenes. Definitely more details than DVD. For example, the earlier scenes where, before Harry and Sally entered a diner, their car pass thru an industrial area, there are a lot more details. Also later in the movie, where both of them working thur (central) park with all the yellow leaves in the background (the cover art,) it's just beautiful!

Another great buy for $10.00! Way to go MGN/Fox!

Are you drunk typing? Your thread title says MEET instead if MET, you call the studio MGN instead of MGM, and other typos like thur instead of thru. Just sayin...

Anyway, there is a thread that covers all this week's Walmart exclusives where we've been discussing this film, but I don't know about a thread just for this one.
I agree, it's one of the best romantic comedies of all time, and while not perfect PQ or AQ, it's easily the best this film has ever looked. And for $10?? Hell, I would have paid $20 for it! I've already watched it twice so far(once with commentary)

No need for apologies, just giving you a hard time.

I rarely enjoy rom-coms, but based on that review I may just have to pick this up.

Have you seriously never seen this??!? Easily the best romantic comedy of all time, and just one of the best comedies of all time. And what's more, it's just as good the 100th time as it is the 1st. Definitely check it out!

Nope, never seen it, even on cable. As I said I rarely enjoy romantic comedies, and care even less for Billy Crystal comedies, with the exception of City Slickers - probably because it's basically a modern Western. I sit stone faced through Throw Momma from a Train. But the review makes it sound as it is something I would enjoy. And your last sentence is interesting as while I like comedies I rarely buy them as comedy movies to me are like jokes - the first time your hear/watch it it can be hilarious, but by the 3rd for 4th time around it starts getting pretty stale.

No way is "When Harry Met Sally" the best romantic comedy of all time. Not even close.

There is no "best of all time." But there are many better than WHMS.

The first to spring to mind are Groundhog Day, The 40 Year Old Virgin and Annie Hall... but given some thought, I'm sure most of us could come up with a pretty long list...

I'd never seen this until we streamed it through Netflix a few months ago. I'll definitely get this once it's not exclusive to Wal-mart.

When Harry Met Sally is a fantastic movie and probably my favorite romantic comedy.

I can't believe Billy Crystal has had the same hairstyle for at least 3 decades. I'd imagine with all that money he'd get a new haircut..

no, no, and no.
All good movies, yes, but not even close to WHMS (and I wouldnt even call Groundhog or Virgin romantic comedies). But, of course, everyone has their opinions and personal favorites. To each his (or her) own.

Why wait? It's $10 right now at WM. It's not like a non-exclusive version will be a different version.

Well, I disagree with you wholeheartedly. There won't be many who think my way on this particular thread (for obvious reasons), but I have always found WHMS to be horribly overrated

Well, if you look at the IMDB.com photo for him from 2011, there's a lot less of it now. (receding hairline has really receded, but then he is 63 now)
