Guy's,

A bit of a late starter on this one and a tad confused re the different versions and country releases.

Which BR Platinum release gives the most actual cartoons, without any of the extra's.

Is the German one a scaled down version of the US with less cartoons on one disc, hence the cheaper price ?

Not really a collector, but just want to get the best value collection (is it known as bang for buck) of the newly re-mastered toons.

Honestly, I didn't want these to have that 'Disney' look. I wanted them to be authentic. I wouldn't have complained if they DID do some massive restoration but, still. I'm quite content with how this set looks, and would buy another set in a heartbeat. I find it kind of silly at the same time that people are complaining about having ACCURATE representations of the source, despite the fact that's what Blu-ray should be about anyway.
2012 favs: Prometheus, Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures, Universal Classic Monsters, The Terminator (UK), E.T. (digibook), JAWS (digibook), Walking Dead Season 2 w/ Zombie Head, Full Metal Jacket (digibook), Star Trek TNG Season 1, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Casablanca, Game of Thrones Season 1, Cleopatra (UK)

Like Manicsounds said, German volume one is just disc one. Looney Tunes Showcase is also disc one only. Your best bet is the US one

Thank gravy for that. :p While the Disney restorations generally look good, I'd much prefer them to look like, oh, I dunno...film, the medium they were shot on. I don't like all that grain-scrubbing.

The Looney Tunes set is gorgeous.

I honestly get excited when I see new replies here because I think I'll hear about volume 2. The volume 1 announcement came around this time last year

Don't be surprised if it's announced here shortly. They technically already confirmed it on Facebook.

I posted a post in this thread that seems to have been deleted in the server crash.

Jerry Beck said on a radio show a couple of months ago that the expected release date for vol. 2 is in December.

Maybe we will hear something during comic-con?

Disney is trying to get back to the look of the original cels, the drawings themselves which have no grain. They were the first studio to go all digital with their CAPS system. No grain in CAPS now, is there?

Unfortunately in the LT sets there's also a lot of noise and dust, and I believe that should have been cleaned up some. It can be distracting.

Plus Warner's cartoons were split between 3 companies when it came to ownership, and it took 30 years for a.a.p to finally merge into Warner Brothers and Sunset bought by Warner to add on to what was already owned by Warners. No news yet

Amazing the things you miss by avoiding Facebook like the plague.

There was probably a lot more info on this that was lost in the crash, but what were the choices?
(I'm already reading "'Episode'??" and thinking they were talking about the heretical Cartoon Network monstrosity, but if there were fan choices for the REAL Looney volumes, can I at least be tantalized with what I missed?)
