There is supposed to be the entire Swedish broadcast coming to Blu, so I'm holding high hopes for this.

This was an entire mini series in Sweden, consisting of six 90 minute episodes.

Fantastic trilogy. I actually just finished watching the 3rd installment (...Kicked the Hornets Nest) this past weekend. Highly recommended!

Completely agree....The only reason I'm looking forward to the remake is because it will bring more attention to the Swedish versions.

Yes, that is the US version that Tav mentioned. David Fincher will be directing, and the movie will star Daniel Craig as Blomkvist, and Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander.

This is just an example of Hollywood 're-making' a popular foreign film.

In my opinion though, it will be VERY tough for the US versions to top the 3 Swedish films, the Swedish ones are truly excellent, and also in my opinion, did not need to be remade at all.

I actually felt it went donwhill a bit after the terrific first film. Maybe it just caught us off guard since we werent expecting much? I dunno - by the time we got through the final film we felt it had overstayed its welcome. The third film especially let us down - just didnt care for how it went down.

Its worth a watch for sure - but I suggest a rental before buying the whole trilogy. Make sure you like it enough to warrant a purchase.

Have only seen the girl with the dragon tattoo of the swedish versions. finished reading the third book last week so maybe i will watch them all sometime soon.

Agreed. The first film is wonderful. The 2nd & 3rd are ok. Not good enough to stand on their own, but makes a good trilogy.

In Swedish with English subtitles. It might be dubbed, but you don't want to watch it that way anyway.

Im just the opposite on this point. The fact that it's remake makes it more interesting. Ive read the books and seen the originals. Now I'm curious if Fincher can improve on the idea.

The funny thing is I like the third book the best. If nothing else maybe I'll get a better third movie.

Can anyone help suggest a way or route to find these extended version of the "the Girl" movies?

Anything is helpful...even if it is telling me there is no way of getting them yet, with valid proof of course.

The extended versions box set is being released here in the UK on 19th September.

No news yet on region coding, it's being released by Momentum, so most probably region locked.

If you're Swedish is good and you don't want to wait. Try here. Not sure about the region code though. I'd probably wait for the US set if I were you though.
