Default 'Silver Linings Playbook'

Hmmm, not really sure what to make of this. Outside of the Fighter when has anybody's career ever been helped by appearing in a Wahlberg movie? Well I trust she won't make a bad movie, and apparently its a very hot script, so I gotta go on blind love and devotion on this one.

Quote:
I'm told that Jennifer Lawrence is in pole position for the role in The Silver Linings Playbook, the drama that David O Russell will direct with Mark Wahlberg starring. This was a coveted role that many young actresses wanted.

Among those actresses mentioned as being in the mix have been Rachel McAdams, Blake Lively, Anne Hathaway and Andrea Riseborough (Madonna's W.E.). If things go the way I'm hearing, Lawrence would shoot the film after she completes the role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, which Gary Ross is directing for Lionsgate. Production on Silver Linings will begin in the fall. Based on Matthew Quick's novel, the film revolves around a former high school teacher who was institutionalized for depression and is then released into the care of his mother. He tries to win back his ex-wife but becomes involved with an eccentric neighbor with problems of her own. That is the coveted role.

Gotta agree cool that Jennifer has another movie but not happy it's with Mark. Only movie I liked him in has been the Departed. But like you said I don't think Jennifer would choose a movie that she didn't like or that sounded bad.

I loved the Departed but that is by no means a Mark Wahlberg movie, he's barely in it. Just got to hope that it's worth her abilities and our time.

Mark Wahlberg & Alec Baldwin were both great in The Departed! They made great use of what little screen time they had.
I will give honoroable mention to MW in: Fear & Invincible, only because I'm a Philly fan!

I didn't say he wasn't good, I just said that wasn't a Wahlberg movie. He's only starred in one through his entire career that I own. Fear was in Seattle, no cheating!

Chris Tucker? His last three movies were Rush Hour, Rush Hour 2 and Rush Hour 3. I was sensing a pattern.

Lol, obviously. I guess the ridiculous amount of Blu-rays coming out the rest of the year will help tide me over into early next year.

VERY happy Cooper took over for Wahlberg. Big improvement.

I like Jennifer Lawrence, too. Oddly enough the only things I DON'T like that she's in are her (bafflingly) most popular - X-Men First Class and The Hunger Games.

I completely agree. I can't even picture Wahlberg in this. Cooper was absolutely the guy for the part. Maybe it's a good thing that Wahlberg and O Russell had a falling out.

Me too. I liked her a lot before, but once she started appearing in these more popular roles I lost a lot of interest in her work.

I don't hate him, far from it. But I don't think he would have been right for this part. Wahlberg doesn't have a ton of range. He was great in The Departed, The Fighter, The Other Guys (As it turns out, he's GREAT in comedies) and Shooter, but very few of his characters are different from the others. I just can't see him in this role. I think Cooper was a better choice.

no hate here, though I do think he is slightly overrated. He plays certain roles well, but has been miscast in others. I absolutely loved Three Kings, The Italian Job, The Big Hit, Shooter.., his small role in Date Night was pretty good, too. I'm really looking forward to see him team up with Dwayne Johnson in Michael Bay's Pain and Gain.
