I'm wondering if the blu ray available of The Island (the Michael Bay movie) in Canada is the same as the US release.

It should be the same. You should only ever worry about differences between US & Canada releases of the same title if Alliance Atlantis is the distribution company for the Canadian release.

Sure you should. Alliance Atlantis have released many Blu-rays in Canada that are barebones only to have the full extra features release a few months later.

That's only on titles that they've done before a US release. I have the Alliance Blu-rays for 1408, Shaun of the Dead, and The Wrestler. They're the same. They just repackage the discs if they're US releases. However, Blade, Blade II, The Cell, Defendor, Final Destination 3, and Sin City (first 2009 disc) are their own copies that they have done themselves.
TRAUMATIC POSSESSION 2D: THE TAPE - UNRATED

Ahh, here I go defending again...
Petra, you still don't get it haha. Its all in the wording. When a disc is issued in the US that Alliance has the rights for in Canada, Alliance simply gathers all data from the US source to make an identical disc, but with their logos etc. The Alliance discs that keep getting crapped on: discs that they create ON THEIR OWN long before the US ever has a release (see my Canadian Exclusive thread). So for example, the recent release of Hobo with a Shotgun in the US is distributed by Magnolia. Alliance in Canada. All extras are on both releases. However, Alliance's new disc (that is not available elsewhere in the world) of Mrs. Brown is barbones, & not a magnificent release. Also, Orlando.. The Wrestler CDN disc is actually missing something: the making-of. It was a rights issue, & a doc that was not produced by Fox so who knows the full details there. That's one of the few cases where something has been missing for an Alliance disc(released 2 years ago).

Why worry? If the disc has a US release then the Canadian disc will be identical.

Actually there is no US blu ray release of The Island-so it won't be the same as anything.
