I was in Florida, and I actually got a Blockbuster card just to take advantage of that deal. I had never been in a Movie Stop before. The one I went to was great, I was suprised to see that there are a few in Alabama. Of course the two I have been in kinda suck.

I know quite a few people who did that, and we even had a few get their card printed up by saying they had their card lost at the BlockBuster, and used it again. Who am I to say no to regulars who know how to beat the system?

And what sucked? The stores in Florida you visited? If you don't mind my asking, which stores might it have been? I work and have only been to the one in Citrus, but I do hear quite a few different things about other locations.

I really am a Blockbuster member, but every time my parents or I try to get a new card they won't give us one. So we just have them look it up. No, the store in Florida was great, I was not impressed by the ones in Alabama. The Florida prices seemed to be a little better, and the selection was a little better. Of course, one of the locations in Alabama is in kind of a bad part of town, so that might have something to do with it. I visited the Ft Walton Beach location in Florida, and I've been to the Huntsville and Birmingham locations in Alabama.

Not quite sure I understand if this is a question or a complimentary statement. Either way, thank you. And if it's a question based on Florida locations, as far as I've heard (people calling or talking about different experiences at different locations), most locations here in FL get pretty good feedback. As Fenris said, selection is very good, because trades are done a lot- My store has one of the biggest trade volumes in the company.

One good tip for looking for a "hard to find" title is to drop off your name and number, and ask an MOD to ask around the company for the title you are looking for. If they find a store with it, they could have it transfered to your store and you can then pick it up. For example, as far as STEALS I got: I was looking for "5 Centimeters Per Second" for a friend. My store could only special order the new DVD version from earlier this year in April, and the other one is WAYYY OOP. E-mailed our merchandising manager, and found out ONE store out of all the ones in the company had one copy used for $4.99, supposedly the new version. Got it shipped from another state, and when I got it, it turned out to be the older OOP version, did some research and found out it's worth about $50+ used. Great steals to be had. A friend got a used copy of the Criterion Blu-ray "The Man Who Fell to Earth" for $9.99.

Zodiac is $8.99 here, if you can get your hands on it. I snagged it for $14.99 last year. I recently sold my copy but I'll pick up another one if my store comes across it. They have my name and number down, so hopefully they'll call me if they come across a copy.

My store hasn't had a copy in a while, but a few months ago it was $9.99 on sale. I recommended to quite a few customers as blind buys, and they really enjoyed the more surreal tense look at a serial killer movie. I think it may be OOP, or at least that's what the online prices leave to suggest, but most stores keep well with the call backs. Good luck, man.

I'd love to see a nationwide roll out of this brand, I mean these stores are the reason that GameStops no longer carry movies, right? Seems like a great thing and a place where you can preorder and gradually pay off movies would be nice, especially for the big sets like Star Wars. I hope to see one of these in my area soon, so hopefully GameStop will get the ball rolling on expanding soon.

Yeah, it's always good to pay off sets in advance. I haven't added a deposit in months, but doing a big trade back in January, I have $58.60 on Star Wars complete saga. It'll probably end up being around $85-90, so I have time to add about $30 credit more and get it for $0 out of my pocket.

Oh, DUHHHH! Lol. I must have misread that. Anyhow, I'll definitely post any definite information or new rumors within company about new stores in replies and edits in the OP.

Thanks for that, and no problem. Just want to keep those lucky people informed of what's going on.

Speaking of which, the "Up To 50% More Store Credit" has ended yesterday, so it has been removed from the "Current Promos" listed at the top of the OP. This isn't full bad news, as the "Trade 4 + $5" is back because of this, and can get you a good amount of credit towards any future releases.

We just received notice from corporate to continue running the Up to 50% More Store Credit promotion until further notice. Figure I'd give his topic a bump and give it notice here, rather than a current promo, so it won't be falsely advertised if I can't edit in time before it runs out.

Get rid of those DVDs now to get the best credit while you can!

Moviestop is awesome, hands down my favorite place to stop and kill a hour or two and look for a bargain on the way home from work, I pass near two on my way home and they are both excellent stores, though I always thought they were associated with Gamestop as both the ones I frequent are in the same parking lot as a Gamestop.

Veritas, do you know what the typical trade-in value is on catalog titles newly released onto Blu-ray? I'm just curious because depending on the typical value I might be swayed into blind buying a few upcoming releases.

Trade-In values for new releases vary. The major ones get $14 store credit, while catalog releases get anywhere to about $9. It varies by title, but if you call your local one, they should quote you over the phone, given it's only one or two titles.

I know trade in values vary from store to store, but I got 20.35 each for Limitless and take me home tonight with my directors club card. Without the card it is still 18.00 dollars. But Rio gets 15. Just giving some more examples.
Hit up my trade thread. I am constantly updating.

Currently I am have an 11 hour sale. Take a look over 175 items for sale.

Yeah, those and Arthur, too. I only didn't post about them because those types of values come a dime a dozen. Those titles trade in so well because they are new releases, and are released within the Up to 50% Promo. What makes them so special as opposed to Rio, also released in the same time? I'm not sure, but those who traded it in haven't been complaining, and neither have I, seeing how positive of a reaction it's gotten.
