Not in terms of framing.
Way better on the US release (we can finally see the cropping of the previous releases in the Beaver's review). Better colors. Less soft too.

For me the US edition is the one I waited for so long. Too bad for the bitrate but I don't look at numbers when I watch a movie.

I know I would be alone on this (probably) but I'm used to it

Right, but the US release is DD 2.0 and barebones while the French and Japanese versions contain lossless audio and extras.

You're right.
I always forget that I must be alone to only care about PQ (as I never watch the extras and listen to the movies with headphones to avoid waking up the neighbours)

I use headphones quite a bit on my PC, but the difference in lossy and lossless is still apparent as my sound card's output is 2 channel LPCM when I hook them up.

I should have my Japanese copies of Sky Captain & The World Of Tomorrow as well as Sahara on Thursday. I 'll let you know for sure about Sahara's stats ASAP to update but supposedly it has an AVC encode & DTS-MA which isn't on the list yet.

It was around $60 on Amazon JP If you look to the right you'll see Amazon as a seller, click that and then you will be able to get it shipped internationally.

No, that's the Paramount U.S. version, the Japanese version is much more expensive!

So you paid about $30 shipped for each item. That's much more than I am willing to spend on individual titles (minus MI Trilogy).

Yeah unfortunately. I never spend that much usually for titles but I splurge once or twice a year. I've waited forever for better versions of most of those movies and it's highly unlikely most of those will be re-issued in the U.S. later with better specs. The Euro versions aren't expensive at all, it's the damn Japanese & Hong Kong Blu-rays that REALLY jack up the price!!!

3000 yen is for the first title, each additional title is 300 yen. Thats why I wanted to have the SkyCaptain in the same batch.

It is the same on Amazon.com's express shipping, steep first title shipping charge, but every other title in the batch only adds $3

Since I started using Amazon w/express for all my day 1 purchases I have learned how it works. If I have 3 titles on preorder for one date, and want to add a 4th, Ill save alot by cancelling the 3 and re-order all 4 together..

Yeah, I was really looking for more titles I wanted form Japan but I could only come up with those two. Sleepy Hollow is OOP so only sellers have it and they seem to not wanna ship internationally no to mention the cheapest seller is selling it for $102 U.S. I draw the line at $60 for a single title. Sky Captain will be the most expensive single title I have purchased. Previous record for me was $50 for the JP version of Equilibrium. Any idea on where to snag a Japanese copy of Sleepy Hollow at a reasonable price?
