It can't hurt to try this, but I'd be willing and happy to give up my $10 Criterion code for a $5 code to Amazon.

If anyone wants to do a trade like this, please let me know.

Thanks.

Did you have your receiver set to Dolby Pro Logic?

I believe the difference can only be detected by having it set to that as I recall.

EDIT:

Yeah, here is the original post from the gent whom noticed the issue at first:

Quote:
So I got this set in the mail yesterday and I'm concerned there may be a defect with the audio on "White." It wasn't clear until I got the set that the audio is 2.0 surround, not stereo. Meaning it is meant to be played with pro-logic turned on to create the surround mix from two channels. (It says to turn on pro-logic in the liner notes). Blue and Red definitely sound like proper surround mixes, but on White I am only hearing one channel. I put my ear right up against my other speakers and couldn't hear a peep. That would happen if the two audio channels are identical, which would be an error with the disc.

Anyone else experience this?

Its honestly very frustrating that I cannot find the information I am looking for. Criterion is very sneaky, to say the least, to be playing this replacement program under the table. Without this site, I would have a defected copy of white and I would have no idea what to do about it.

As I understand, if you order this direct from Criterion right now you will get the corrected White. Is it worth ordering now or waiting to see what happens with the Blue framing issue? I want to order it during this sale but my gut feeling is to wait it out and order something else instead.

This has already been suggested to him, but apparently that is not good enough.

I'm trying to confirm before I open the set that it isn't defective. Otherwise I'm sending it back for a refund.

I would call, I've noticed they haven't been very responsive to email lately.

Or you could just keep it and replace the defective disc. There is an issue with Blue as well that's being looked into; the whole film is slightly misframed, but it was done on the master used by Criterion and AE, so it's m2k's fault.

Don't bother calling. I called twice and got nothing. I even left two messages. Their customer service is horrible. I will never order anything from them again. I'm sure you got that message where they were apologizing to all their FANS. Wrong. I am a customer, so I don't want to be treated like a fan. On top of it, their website is total crap, but the customers are supposed to be the ones to make it work?

They're "looking into it" so I wouldn't get your hopes up. I honestly don't feel comfortable sending my disc from CA to NY. If it got lost I would be screwed. On top of that, it is asinine that I have to pay the shipping cost. There is no way that is happening.
