It's a Wonderful Life Blu-ray CE

Paramount Home Entertainment has announced a new edition of their perennial Christmas classic, It's a Wonderful Life.

Changes for this new release are limited strictly to packaging and collectibles. According to the studio, the gift set will come packaged in a shadow box with a new commemorative booklet and a collectible bell ornament. A release date of November 1st, 2011 has been confirmed.

Frank Capra's It's A Wonderful Life made its Blu-ray debut in November 2009. The film stars Jimmy Stewart as George Bailey, a man whose suicide attempt calls the attention of his guardian angel. This release will include the same two discs of the previous version, which offered both black and white and colorized cuts of the film. Paramount has set the SRP of the Gift Set at $29.99. Since this is the same SRP as the current version, a price reduction may be on the horizon for the movie-only edition. Pre-orders for the Gift Set should be up on Amazon soon.

If I didn't have Wonderful Life on blu I might have considered this edition, but since I do, this edition will not be in my collection.

Cool! Kinda looks the same packaging they did for the DVD version two years ago.

Looks like a fantastic set, but I am happy with my 2-disc regular edition.

The price point seems decent. If they keep it a normal BD case, I'm definitely in for a buy.

Which I already have that set (Got it for $15 two years ago), I'm just waiting for the plain BR to reach $10 or less, since it seems like all the collectibles in this set are the same.

I was going to pick up the DVD version last year during the holidays. I'm glad I didn't.

Same here I was going to pick this up last year and glad I did not as well I dont own the first blu release so I am in for one of these I need more Christmas themed movies in my collection anyway and as far as this film goes I consider it a classic

They need to release this and Miracle on 34th with the recently mastered colorized versions. Both look quite convincing.

This film deserves an A+ transfer. The one on the current Blu-ray is mediocre at best. Repackage my ass Paramount.

The colorized version of It's a Wonderful Life is on the most recent BD release. Out of curiosity, I watched it last year and it's done quite well, but I'll return to the b&w version in the future -- it's really the only way to view this.

The B&W version looks alot better than the colorized version. Why ruin a Christmas classic or any movie that was meant to view in black and white?
