Perhaps because it came out so early in the year they want to keep the film in the Oscar discussion by releasing right before the end of the year?
Favorite Movies: Rio Bravo, Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, The Big Lebowski, O Brother Where Art Thou?, The Good The Bad and The Ugly, Apocalypse Now, GoodFellas, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Bambi, The Adventures of Robin Hood, The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, Taxi Driver, North by Northwest, American Graffiti, Dazed and Confused, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, Singin' in the Rain

I'd heard January, so I'm just glad that it's official now. There's a lot of shuffling still going on (possibly another move for Pooh) for the holidays, but this and Super 8 are the ones that I most wanted to get an official date on. Terrific film and I hope Woody finally puts some extras on a release.

Probably taking time to make a fully extras loaded special edition

Since the French BD will come out in October, I can see it getting released around that time or in November or December to remind Oscar voters of it's existence.
As for extras, since it is a Woody Allen film, it will have no extras except for maybe previews for other films from the studio. Either way, I can't wait to own this. |

Thanks for the input.
I was hoping they'd do a Sept. release but I guess I was dreaming. I would pay extra for a Director's Commentary or even a Cinematographer's on this one but I guess I'm still dreamin'.

That is a long way to wait but I guess it'll be my XMAS present to me. My list has officially begun.
1- Woody's film 2-The Berlin Concert (Netrebko,Domingo...etc.) 3- 4- 5- Most likely posters are right. The Oscars and also that special 'gotta have it' gift that'll perk up anyone's bleak holiday. I hope it snows the day I buy it.

I just watched the TFI French Import on BD. It looks stunning in High Def on Blu ray.
The disc is Region B locked and has forced subs. The subs I did not mind though. It should be a great title later this year from Sony. |

Woody's best film in years. Reminded me so much of The Purple Rose of Cairo and that is nothing but a good thing. Can't wait to pick this bad boy up. Check out my Podcast review of it here: http://www.lastpictureshowpodcast.co...-hurry-up.html
