I currently have an old Sharp LCD but am thinking of getting a Pansonic P65VT30 Plasma.
My Concern is how viewable my TV will be during the day time with glare and reflections. Would like to hear from others that have a Plasma in a living room that has a few windows and how bad reflections/glare are. Should I even consider Plasma because of these issues? Layout is like so: w= window North ------------------------ |w___________-TV-___| |w__________________| |w__________________| ----------___________| ________|___________| ________|___________| ________|__________w| ________|__________w| ________|__________w| ________|_____ww__w| ________ -------------- South
TV: Panasonic P65VT30 (Old: Sharp LC52D62U)
Player: PS3 320GB Receiver: Onkyo TX-NR809 (Old: Denon AVR1909) Speakers: Polk RTiA5 CSiA6 FXiA6 Sub: ED A3-300 Last edited by Tempest; 08-31-2011 at 08:27 PM. |

I have no problems at all with my Panny plasma. My living room is oriented towards east and west, with windows on both sides, so I get both morning and evening sun. The Panasonic plasmas have a great anti-glare filter that works wonders. I cannot comment on other plasmas ( Samsung, Lucky Goldstar, etc. ) as I have never owned one of them. However, I do have both an LCD and an RPTV in addition to my Panny plasma, and IMHO, the plasma outshines them all no matter what time of day. .
Living Room: Panasonic TC-P58VT25 3D Plasma HDTV, Panasonic DMP-BDT350 3D Blu-ray player, Sony PS3 Slim 3D 160 Gig, Onkyo TX-SR608 3D 7.2 AV Receiver, Yamaha NS-777 Front Tower Speakers, Yamaha NS-6490 Front Height and Back Surround Speakers, Cadence C-17 Center Speaker, Acoustic Audio HD-SUB15 Subwoofer, Charter HD 3D DVR, Monoprice cables
Master Bedroom: Panasonic PT-50LCZ70 1080p HDTV, Onkyo HT-S6100 7.1 AV System, Sony PS3 80 Gig, Charter HD DVR |

Thanks for comments.. makes me feel better.. if I have to I will get some kind of extra shades to block some of the light too.
I think I am going to pull the trigger on the Panasonic P65VT30. I get a special discount from Panasonic so I can order it from them directly for $2,864. Will be a nice upgrade I think from my several year old 52" Sharp LCD.

I have a plasma and i have bad glare during the day. The windows are directly behind where I am seated. Obviously a shades/blinds helps a bit but I think its pretty bad. With that said, im not sure how much better an LCD would be in my position... Also, the Plasma is so nice, i wouldnt think of giving it up due to glare. If its sunny out and the glares that bad, then its a sign i should be out doing something and not watching tv...

I agree, the panny plasmas do have some good anti reflective coating on them. Compared to my Samsung 43D450 upstairs. |
