i like the whole "components under the bed" idea. some may not as they'll say it won't be good for the components as they'll create too much heat under there. but if you're gonna have a fan to pull out the hot air, then i say go for it. it keeps everything out of the way and will most definitely help with the sound.

and you should get some more subs, you don't have enough.

There will be a large sized fan pushing air out the rear of the bed. It goes back 12'. I need to buy one.

I am almost done painting. I have the area around my bed to paint, then a second coat there and at the back wall.

The SVS PB13 Ultra arrives tommorow. I ordered a Da-Lite 92997 Perm-Wall Fixed Frame Projection Screen (37 x 67"). I plan to hang it from the ceiling or else I will need to come up with some other way to mount it such as a wood frame with legs behind the speakers.
  • Permanent Wall Mounting
  • Non-Tensioned
  • Rear Projection
  • 77" Diagonal
  • HDTV Format
  • 16:9 Aspect Ratio
  • DA-Tex Finish

I finished painting in the early morning. I took the 155 pound subwoofer up three steps in the garage and down some more by myself. I will buy a fan later and hopefully finish the audio setup tonight.

It looks like you have the space, so I'm curious as to why you're going Rear-projection vs. front-projection?

  1. Because I can't afford an acousticly transparent screen
  2. There is less fan noise
  3. It is lower gain than my Dalite High Power screen
  4. I grew up with a rear projection CRT in the 80's having it since birth

I bought and installed two fans. I am think the fan noise around 22db after my bass trap is over it. I bought a new reciever. It is a Yamaha RX-V371. It has stereo and subwoofer analog outputs. My old pre/pro converts everything to 44.1K quality and has only optical/analog inputs.

I told the sales person at Best Buy exactly what I was doing. I said I want to decode DTS-MA and ouptut stereo with a subwoofer to external amplifiers. It doesn't work at all so it's going back.

I have to return the Yamaha and use the analog outputs on my blu-ray player. The right channel output will be split before the equalizer and go to the subwoofer because the Outlaw's subwoofer output quit working.

Edit: It looks like I can turn off bass management then use both left and right subwoofers with the SVS subwoofer also for the LFE.

The SVS PB13 Ultra works again.

Apparently the Outlaw works also. It's strange because I was getting no bars on the EQ indicator of any signal or any test noise from the SVS. I'm hearing the pink noise now. It's reading 85dB at -11 on the subwoofer and 0 on the Outlaw.

I was seriously about to try and find a new subwoofer amp like Klipsch makes. I'm not sure what happened.

It's time to calibrate....

Calibration Results 1.0

These may change as a fine tune them later, but everything checks out okay with my REW program for polarizations, channels, and crossovers.

Calibration Results 1.3

Two filters for the left and right channels. It's the same for the subwoofer only I had to turn up the level on the pre/pro. Apparently the elictrical 40Hz crossover is still on when the switch for the analog bass management set to off like it is.

The screen hangs by two plastic over metal wires. I will be adding a smoke detector under the bed. That's it for awhile.

The hotspotting is less pronounced with the projector lowered onto an old support beam seat/cover laying on it's side. The projector is now lower than the first subwoofer, using lens shift almost to the maximum. At + 3000 lamp hours it very dim, more dim than my laptop screen projecting light from behind at near the same distance. Removing the ND2 filter helps, but the hotpotting gets larger. There is no visible hotspotting when laying on the floor. When content is cinemasope aspect ratio hotpotting is also less visible. There is around six inches on each side where the image does not fill the screen because there is not enough throw distance. It's more like 53 inches wide than 65. Hotspotting was also visible at maximum throw distance with my 106" diagonal High Power Screen when lamp hours are low. I could notice the edges being less bright after 300 hours using a camera.

The area under the bed does not seem to be getting hot that I can tell yet, so that's good.
