Titanic Blu-ray

Titanic 3D Blu-ray

Bluray-disc.de has given a tentative release date for James Cameron's mega hit - Titanic in Germany for April 2012. Doubtless this date is timed in with the centenary of the ship's sinking.

I wonder if all the extras from the 4 disc set will be carried over. Here's hoping!
Best film of 2013: 42
Most over-rated film of 2013: Place Beyond The Pines.

don't know why this thread is so inactive.

Cameron Unveils Titanic 3-D Footage for April 2012 Release, Talks 3-D, Exploration, Avatar

Interesting points
- Cameron knows how to handle 3-D technology and is willing to spend the money (in this case, $18 million) and time (60 weeks) to do it right. That isn’t always true of everyone else, and to his regret Cameron can’t control the way other less scrupulous people have used the technology, at both the production and exhibition end, where saving money on light is detrimental to how 3-D looks in the theater.
- Cameron explained that the 4K digital master off the original super 35 anamorphic movie is less grainy and more spectacular than the original negative, so everyone is in for a treat.
- The next step will be going to higher frame rates in movie theaters, from 24 frames per second to 48 and 60 as well, he said. It will improve camera pans so they won’t strobe, which is more noticeable in 3-D. “It’s easily achievable to change the rate of display. It’s just a firmware update for projectors.”

they obviously guessed the date. there have been rumors about an anniversary release on April 2012 for more than a year.
and obviously we're getting a release after the theatrical re-run is over.

this is for the theater. So a 3D and 2D blu ray release will be a long way from coming out. I knew this release date was to good to be true

Depends on your definition of "long way." I have no doubt that this will hit blu-ray in 2012. I just can't imagine Paramount being stupid enough to pass up a marketing opportunity that doesn't come along that often.

But in terms of being a long way off, I still expect this to hit sometime in April or May. It starts in theaters April 6 and, I know it's a different case, but if we look at how The Lion King was handled, it was released about a month after the 3D run started. I realize we knew TLK was coming to blu-ray in October 2011 almost a year before it did, but I don't see this being that much different.

My guess is that the date will be in the window from April 1 to July 1. Somewhere in that frame.

no it's not. Beauty and the Beast 3D was released before the theatrical release and TLK 3D shortly after the release.

Yes I do. Of course we don't know the extras yet, April is nearly half a year away!
Think of it this way. Why wouldn't they release it on Blu-ray around that time? They will have it cleaned-up, remastered etc. Some new extras and it's good to go!

Man, I've always wanted to watch this on the night of April 14th. Looks like, while I may be able to watch it around that time in Theaters, watching it on Blu-Ray on the night of the 100th anniversary is just not gonna happen.
