Glad to see this thread! Pre ordered mine as well. If the masses really liked good/fun movies, this thread would have more replies than the latest stupid Transformers film coming to Blu-ray.
Basket Case is included in my pre order as well.

I hope the films don't the famous SW burned in on the bottom right of the films when you watch them.
![]() I have a couple of SW dvd's that do just that, one is called the Something Wierd Sampler, and other is called "Axe!"(the 2nd film: called The Electric chair has that dreaded SW on the bottom for the whole damn film! |

I'm very happy with the disc. BLOOD FEAST fairs the best (pretty significantly, in fact), TWO THOUSAND MANIACS looks much better but the print is not as crisp or colorful as the other two, and COLOR ME BLOOD RED looks good too (second best). Extras appear to be the same format (480p or i, not sure which since my player is set to 1080p for everything).
I first saw BLOOD FEAST on vhs, back in junior high I think. Fuad's eyes got me then and it became one of my faves. I think it's obscene to have it in HD and I'm so happy for it! A real treat for cult movie fans. Last edited by bgart13; 09-27-2011 at 06:30 PM. |

I got to watch the disc yesterday. Of the three movies, Blood Feast does indeed look the best, although Color Me Blood Red isn't too far behind. There's no DNR or EE to be found. Two Thousand Maniacs has quite a bit of print damage and the colors look faded...has a grindhouse look and feel to it, so some people may find a certain charm in that one just for the presentation. All 3 movies are in 1.78:1, although the titles and credits on the last two movies are in 1.66:1 for some reason. All 3 movies were fun to watch. If you like gore and exploitation films, you'll enjoy the Blood Trilogy. Also, there's no burned-in logo or anything, so no worries there. It's locked to Region A, though.

Blacks are washed out, seemingly set to IRE 7.5 (analog NTSC black) instead of IRE 0 ("digital" black for video)... not a deal breaker, but really strange to see none the less. The bitrates are also a bit low (17 Mb/s) and it leaves the grain looking a bit 'patchy', if you follow - it certainly doesn't look terrible, but I wouldn't be surprised if having split the films across 2 discs would have made it even better.
The aspect ratio going to 16:9 is weird, to say the least, but overall I'm quite happy with the discs. Color reproduction and detail on Blood Feast was better than I could have ever asked for. The disc has some really odd, relatively minor issues, but I doubt they'll ever look any better. |
