You see, I haven't outgrown Star Wars or Transformers for that matter ... but E.T. ... yeah not really interested in it anymore. Loved it as a kid, collected the cards, toys and such ... but the film really didn't age that well for me. Can't watch it too often, sorry but agree with retablo.

Also...he asked if we would be ok with just the 1982 original version of E.T. and not combined with the altered version he did later. We applauded the decision just the original on Blu and he said, "Okay, then."
Well it seems that Mr. Spielberg does care about his fans, unlike a certain Mr. George Lucas , who would rather take a long heavy dump on his fans while we shell out money for his truncated product.
Mr. Spielberg has class.

Jaws and Schindler's List will be part of Universal's 100 years anniversary celebration with 4k restoration. 13 titles selected but I don't see E.T. The Extra Terrestrial in the list.
Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen.

The Babe Blu I bought today had an insert that had E.T. on the front along with Jaws stating that they were both coming to Blu in 2012. Edit: Here's a pic.

Okay then that's more promising. But I wonder why it's not part of the 13 films being restored to 4k, I hope they do restore E.T. at 4k as well. Or are we getting the old 2002 transfer?
Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen.

I wouldn't know. Maybe it's not as far along in the process as Jaws is. Or Uni could pull a Disney and delay the thing for a few years like Dumbo or Tarzan.

Same way I feel about E.T.. Saw it in Jr. high and loved it, but something about it nowadays really puts me off. Glad it's going to be available soon to those that enjoy it.

The Thing was the superior "alien" movie from Universal.

Do you have a link to this list? This is the first time I'm hearing about Schindler's List finally coming to Blu-ray.

I don't think I could Out Grow a movie. If it's a good movie, It's a good movie. I still think ET holds up.

I understand because, I feel the same about E.T! Even though, it's an excellent movie, it doesn't have the same emotional effect on me today, like when I was much younger. It's from maturity. People change as they get older.

As an adult watching it, I can see the emotional toll the divorce took on the family, and how that relates to the story. I didn't even like it as a kid, but I think it's great now, even though I don't some things. I always thought the movie captured childhood very accurately.

As the blu-ray.com article points out, the release only says Schindler's List will be "restored" in 2012; it doesn't specifically say it's hitting BD in 2012. Nonetheless, IMO it will hit BD in either 2012 or 2013 (its own 20th anniversary).

Edit: Universal had already confirmed 2012 BD releases for TKaM, All Quiet, OoA & Jaws; this release added E.T. plus unspecified BD versions of their classic monster & Hitchcock films. AFAIK the other films in the release are only confirmed for restoration in 2012, not necessarily BD.
BD players: PS3 Slim 250GB; Sherwood BDP-5004 & Insignia NS-BRDVD4 (both region-free); HP P7-1010 w/ LG WH12LS38K, AMD HD 6570, TMT 3, 5 & 6, PDVD 11, Nero 11
A/V hardware: Vizio E3D320VX 3DTV; Sony HT-SS380 (PC also has Hanns-G HL227 & Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers)

That's what I was saying, restorations. I never said anything about BD release.
Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen.
