I received an email from Amazon.fr which references an October 13 street date - I think, my French language ability being nearly nonexistent. Does this BR have fixed French subtitles?

I have a check disc, no english subs, but you can remove the french subs on the english track.
The documentary is in english but the french subtitles are locked on it.

Well if i don't remember it wrong there are also parts where they talk swedish, danish and some norwegian (well some kind of norwegian).

From looking at Metropolitan's catalog of releases, it seems many of their past blus (except for Silent Hill) are "B" locked (such as 16 Blocks, Passengers, Saw, Golden Compass), however the upcoming Conan the Barbarian says "Region Free", so I dunno about this one

Using google translate, looks like picture quality is uneven. Someone said it says the subtitles are forced but I can't find that in the review using translate.

I am french and I can say there is nothing in this review about forced ubtitles.
And like I said before, you can remove the french subs on the english track with your remote (on my player, an Oppo BD 83).
The documentary is in english but the french subtitles are locked on it.
