MY BD Rips are without DTS-MA audio as I have not been able to stream that so no point in having it take up HDD room. I'm going to look into an app to be able to control my PC via my IPhone 3GS if it's possible so I dont' have to move my computer upstairs..but in the end if I can't I'll build another HTPC to put on my HT rack.

hey guys small problem. 14 of my BD Rips are not showing up in XBMC. any ideas why or how to fix this? TIA

Hey, B, it also works well for other purposes, such as in the case where one has all of their family photos and videos stored on a computer on one's network. You can view all of that stuff through this application. It's actually really cool for that. Much better than hooking up a laptop willy-nilly or trying to use Windows Explorer (or any standard OS interface) to view them.

I'm with you, though, about not really using this for movie ripping. I do, however, use it for my music, as I have just about all of my library ripped and backed-up on my server. For TV shows where my wife and I have gotten behind on our DVR programming or for shows that we "want to get around to watching sometime," we'll use this. I also use it for my kids, where we have tons of our cartoons and other kid DVDs ripped to the server, and we access it through a media center application like this.

For HD stuff, it's Blu-ray all the way, baby!

I think if you plan to "rent and rip" then a system like this is a lot more interesting. I figure I want to be all legit with my media as much as possible.

I'm just going to be ignorant and assume people just rip their own library so they don't have to get up and switch discs, and rent/rip or downloading doesn't happen =)

It's also available for Mac, and I can confirm that it works fantastically. I use it all the time (just about every day).

mine is for my own library for sure, i just like the convience of being able to seemlessly go anywhere in my house and have easy access to all of my media

I'd been toying with setting up XBMC for a while and having seen the screengrabs of Aeon MQ3 on the previous page, I decided to have a go.

I like it and am definitely gonna run it full time when I build my next PC, though I do have a couple of questions:

Using the afore-mentioned skin, how do I change to library view? In the settings menu, I've selected the view types I like, but when accessing the menu (I'm only testing it with music, as everything else is pretty unorganised so far) all I see is the file list view.

Also, is there a way I can automatically scan album folders into the library, or do I have to do each one individually?

thanks for the info. I did follow the instructions and updated the driver (nvidia geforce 400 series) and codecs. When I opened the XBMC from the XBMC HD AUDIO folder on my laptop and played back a movie with DTS-HD, my receiver did not decode it and I ended up without audio (high pitch static). I've gone into the setting on the XBMC and updated the codecs to decode. Is there anything that I could be missing for the setup.

The new version of XBMC (Eden) may likley have a new Audio Engine that bit-streams HD auto out of the box.

I have been using a pre-build, alpha version of Eden and I am getting ful HD auto bit-streamed w/o issue.

It is possible right now using, Dharma, but requires the use of an external player (MPC-HC or TMT) and ffdshow stuff.

well im planning on getting a server to host all my Blu-ray films which will be 1:1 copies of the films and im looking at about 15tb to start with. i havnt even considered adding the special features yet. 15tb would cost around say $650 for the enclosure and 5x3tb WD Green(around $220)so a little more than $1600 and then when that runs out of room, another enclosure which can be daisy chained to the other...around $1200

If its our own media were ripping then whats the harm?

is it illegal to rip a blu-ray to your PC hard drive? I thought they tried to stop all those programs from being sold? If not then I guess I should be ripping some to my PC to just stream.
