Well, I just ordered this. It's been ages since I last bought an SACD. $8 for shipping a CD was darn near a deal breaker. But wth, right? Roll the dice and hope you don't crap out.

Still haven't ordered it, but I hear it's a Crackerjack release!

I wonder if AP will introduce another version without the fancy packaging. I think it added excessively to the cost, and isn't necessary. In fact, if a barebones version is released I'll be tempted to get it just so it will fit on my shelf.

To quote the mighty Meatloaf, hopefully this will be the Coupe de Ville hiding at the bottom of a Crackerjack box. How's that for an obscure reference?DD

Hey Todd, I'm pretty excited too. I ordered thru Music Direct. Don't really know why I chose them. They were even .50 higher on shipping.

Sounds good to me as well.

Have any of you guys pulled the DSOTM WYWH double listening feature yet? I am planning on doing just this, but not sure which one to listen to first. Is there a general consensus as far as which disc/mix sounds better or are they pretty even in sound/mix quality?

Well another .50 at the price for this disc is nothing Sounds like we have some good listening ahead! Are you the same Waboman from AVS? If so, I go by Toe over there and we have chatted in the audio thread a few times.

WYWH is significantly better. It was the better recording to begin with, Guthrie had greater attention to detail on the mix and APO had better quality control in producing the SACD. I am not nearly as impressed with DSotM as WYWH.

But yes, it might be fun to queue up one ofter the other. I'd follow the chronological order.

I actually ordered through elusivedisc.com from the link on the previous page.

Thanks, sounds good and I am even more curious to hear this now. DSOTM was released first, right?

Cool new nick John, I like it.

Agreed that chronological makes sens, plus WYWH is such a masterpiece that you have to listen to it after. I did both in a row Friday night and it's quite the treat. I don't have many SACDs or DVD-As (around 12) but WYWH is my tops now. A worthwhile investment for any prog lover, a no-brainer for Floyd fans.

I almost always listen to Floyd in order from DSOTM through Animals. It's such a great trilogy of albums.

I would go 24/96 4.0 Parsons DSOTM > DSD 5.1 Guthrie WYWH.

Substitute the 5.1 24/96 Guthrie for the DSD if you only have the BD and the DSD of Guthrie's DSOTM for Parson's Quad if you don't have the BD of DSOTM.

If you only have the DVD-A rip of DSOTM that was out long before the Immersion sets were announced then I'd choose the SACD over it because the production quality/mastering quality is much better.
