Just received my Criterion version of this, but not had chance to watch it yet.

Could have probably saved some money if I knew this was coming out though.

Although this probably wont have all the extra goodies on the Criterion version.

At last, Cronenberg is sorely under represented in the UK blu-ray market. Would like to see Naked Lunch, Dead Ringers and Existenz too!

My guess is that it will have none of the goodies. Only a 480i trailer. Still, I'm glad that this is finally being released for region B.

Awesome for those who can't play Region A titles yet, me included. Can't wait to get this.

To be fair, he's under represented on blu-ray in general. Bring em on I say. You guys do have the superior release of A History of Violence, at least.

Universal vs Criterion? I wish that someone else was releasing a UK version...
65" Panasonic 4K tv and 6.1 sound.

This is one I'd hoped Eureka might do with their Universal deal. I'll give it a chance as I haven't picked up the Criterion BD and still have their DVD. If the transfer comes close and it's the right price I'll consider it.

Eureka should just release ALL movies in the UK that Criterion releases in the US! Good deal.

dnt forget back on DVD the UK only got the R rated cut and not the unrated version.
So this might be the same.

True but they released it unrated on the US so it's also possible any HD master they have will be that version.

This is 7.95 on pre-order at Zavvi, part of their Mega Monday deals.

Maby Universal did cooperate with Criterion with the master the same way as Fox did with Criterion with Benjamin Button?

Watched the Italian edition today - which is the same that will be released in the UK - and:
- it is the cut version (76 seconds shorter)
- no extras
- the transfer is, incredibly enough, IMHO superior to the Criterion, which is also severely cropped in comparison to the Uni.
I took some grabs:

Superior? You're having a laugh, mate. Unless of coarse you mixed up the screenshots.

I'm not a videophile but isn't there pretty obvious edge enhancement on the Universal caps compared to the Criterion?
