Default New Mission Impossible Box Set

Mission: Impossible Blu-ray Box

Few details at the moment, though at least we have preliminary cover art.

Paramount might include some sort of movie cash/voucher.

Hopefully, the movies will be remastered, though Paramount is not usually in the habit of redoing Blu-rays (other than creating new cover art).

--------------------------------------------------

11/11/2012 Edit:

Paramount has released a couple of different box sets in the U.S. Basically, the studio re-used whatever was lying around their warehouses, and the mixed packaging can be really confusing. Here's a list to help keep track of which version you want:

1) Ultimate Missions box set, old cover art with silver border, 2-disc version of MI3

2) Ultimate Missions box set, old cover art w/o silver border, 2-disc version of MI3

3) Ultimate Missions outer box, new cover art, 2-disc version of MI3 (only at Walmart, but you won't know if you got the 1-disc or 2-disc version until after you opened it)

4) Ultimate Missions outer box, new cover art, 1 disc version of MI3 (places like Best Buy and Target got some copies that look like this)

5) Extreme Trilogy, new cover art, 1-disc version of MI3

All of these use the same old MPEG2/DD 5.1 masters from 2006.

Scandinavian re-releases:
1, 2, and 3 all have new AVC video encodes and DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio encodes.
1 and 2 have Bonus Features.

Other Continental European re-releases (Bonus Features are missing):
1 and 2 have new AVC video encodes and DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio encodes.
3 has the old MPEG2/DD 5.1 master.

UK re-release:
Old MPEG2/DD 5.1 transfers.

Brazilian re-release:
1, 2, and 3 all have new AVC video encodes and DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio encodes.
1 and 2 have Bonus Features.

Hong Kong re-release (Bonus Features are missing):
1, 2, and 3 all have new AVC video encodes and DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio encodes.

Ya encode them at least in AVC, that would be a start.

Crud, this page indicates MPEG-2 and Dolby Digital audio. In other words, this is just a repackaging. :-(

Not really surprised - many studios re-release titles (sometimes with a slipcover, new art or in a set) to 'freshen up the look' - the previous set was out of print and 4 years old, so they're re-releasing it at a lower price.

Paramount seems to be doing this the most.

Not really any interest for me, since the first one is the best by far IMO. I'm still waiting for it to get a better treatment on Blu, before I upgrade.

But it is not a trilogy. There are 4 movies in the series (at least). The second you buy that box it is inaccurate.

Exactly! That's why I never understand why they release these collections that come out just in time for the next movie...just in time to feel nice and incomplete. What's worse is when they have bonuses about the upcoming movie just to really rub it in.

If the sound haven't been improved by providing lossless audio for all three movies, then it's not worth purchasing.

The majority of blu-ray enthusiasts, may already have all three Mission Impossible movies separately in the collections anyway.

Amazon pre-order is up. With the cheap price, this is most likely a repackage. Lazy Paramount strikes again. It would have been awesome to get MI3 with lossless audio.

...and its possible they may have dropped the bonus disc for M:I-3. some of u might recall paramount replaced the 2-discer with a 1-discer some months ago.

It would be awesome to get all three movies with lossless audio! Why only Mission Impossible III?

I enjoy 3 the most. Part 1 is okay, and I really don't care about the 2nd one.

I know you guys are saying that Paramount is "lazy" but several movies have been released in other regions with lossless audio after they were initially released here compressed. It's not unheard of.

However, I agree, this is just stupid.
Best film of 2013: 42
Most over-rated film of 2013: Place Beyond The Pines.

With blu-ray's HD audio capabilities, there is no reason why any movie soundtrack shouldn't be lossless on blu-ray, whether if an individual like the movie(s) or not. There are sequels I didn't like either, but it doesn't justify not having lossless audio.

+1.
I am sure they didn't or will not re-encode these movies on this release. I already got dissapointed last time on MI3 when they re-released it.
Adopted Blu-ray long before its development and launch.

I paid $30 for the original box set so I am not complaining, but I do want all three to eventually get lossless audio.

Well, the new one doesn't have a Roman numeral or number in its title. They are considering it a "reboot" of sorts with Jeremy Renner as the new lead for if/when Tom Cruise steps away from being the star.
