The new high fidelity (96khz WAV) downloads are now available on the website. Has anyone heard them or find out if they are indeed compressed?

Gish, Siamese Dream and Adore are my favourite Pumpkins albums. I think Adore is one of the most underrated albums of the 90's. Gish is great all the way through, one of the early grunge albums. If you haven't listened to it in a while, get it out and give it a whirl.
I was at Best Buy the other day and saw the remastered Gish sitting in the shelf. I read this was out there so I picked it up.

Gish sounds great on the standard cd. Much, much better than the original cd I had from years ago.

Looks like the average dynamic range is DR9. Not too bad, IMO.

I picked up both sets and they look awesome and for $24.99 each on sale Awesome Prices! S.P. fans should run out to BB or order from amazon.com for the current prices. I was at my local record store today and they were charging 40.99 each set.
Stop the Replacing of original Studio Opening / Closing logos! These are becoming endangered and should be kept intact. They are part of film history.

Very nice link, thank you!

Yeah that's not too far off the original, average DR11.

Gish and the Lull EP were the only really dynamic releases, both at DR13 almost in the "GOOD" section of the DR database.

I actually think the original Gish sounds great, always enjoyed that CD and it has a very neutral sound I think, it definitely suffered the more heavy-handed drc of the two going from DR13 to DR8.

Got my sets today, cannot wait to rip into these suckers. The sets are NICE and are gonna take a proud place amongst my ever growing CD collection!

So, being more of an audio guy and less of a computer guy, if I were to get these high-res files, I just burn them to a DVD???

Or connect your computer to your audio setup via optical or digital coax.

Granted, I don't know your complete equipment setup.

That's the problem, my PC isn't connected to my HT rig. Can an Oppo 83 or PS3 play them off of a USB drive?

24/96 files can burn to a DVD-V. I'm pretty sure there is freeware out there for that, just Google it.

With multi-channel you'd need DVD-A, but with stereo you're golden with 2.0 24/96 PCM.

Yes, the 83 can play them through a USB drive, but I'm not sure about the PS3.

The Pumpkins is (was?) my favorite band, even above Radiohead.
I was SOOO lucky to see them first row by mere coincidence on a trip to Zurich on a very small college stadium
It was their machina tour, the official last tour, I cried at the end

I personally can't wait for Adore to be remastered. That is IMHO their masterpiece. And finally a good version of Machina II !!!

As for Gish and Siamese Dream I got the reissues in CD, they do sound better than the original.

I also can't wait for a good version of Machina II, but even better Machina as the double album it was always intended to be.
Damn fine coffee!

DR hovers around 7~9 on Adore, hopefully they don't feel the need to compress this one any further if they "remaster" it. Feels like a dirty word these days.

ANYWAY, Adore is one of the most underrated albums of the 90's in my humble opinion.

Adore is amazing.

The one criticism I have of it though is that it is probably at least 1 song too long. But I enjoy all the songs on it and wouldn't even know which one to pull

it seems the push or desire by studios and artist to get onboard with blu-audio is very far and few in between.
