The Sweet Hereafter (Atom Egoyan)

Don't let the server crash let you forget about The Sweet Hereafter release in 10 dayds and Exotica too, if you like both. I only love the former, but after all the waiting, I decided to get Exotica too because inetvideo was having a 20% off deal that required ordering 2 bds.

I believe the best deal right now for both is at cdplus. I've never used them before, but a poster here has said they do a good job.

I will probably leave Exotica sealed until there are reviews, but Alliance would have to do one of their true botch jobs for me to not want to keep The Sweet Hereafter.

Went ahead and ordered both from that CDplus sight you mentioned. Here's hoping they didn't **** them up. Exotica is one of my favorites.

cdplus shipped my order on firday witch is weird they never ship before release date but i got it today.

heres some info about it

it comes with a slipcover its a bluray dvd combo pack the specs are

the sticker on the front says that the one commanty is brand new and director aproved.

looks like a decent release considering this a an allance relase that isn't being ported of a us copy none of the useal butchings that allance normaly does seem to be here such as using 1080i or changing the aspec to something hugely diffent from oar

if anyone knows how to get a screen shot off the bluray id be happy to post some so u can see the quality.

i tried power dvd but it don't seem to let me take screenshots also tried some other player software but the screen shot came out black.

Now you've really pissed me off.

I was going to cancel and go with cdplus to save the extra $2, but they charged me when I ordered, not after shipping so I figured it would be more of a hassle to have 2 orders at the same time.

And you get yours on Monday the 11th.

Screen caps aside, can you give the video a score? Do you think it's 3.5 or 4? Better, worse? And reasons why you think that would be nice and appreciated.

So you didn't get Exotica? Urgh, I wonder when we'll get as a review of that. Inetvideo has not shipped mine.

PS-Also, is the NEW commentary on the blu-ray and the rest of the special features on the dvd?

they shipped Exotica but it didn't come today i sent an email asking for the tracking still waiting to hear back from them. i wasn't expecting to get them this soon ive pre ordered stuff from them 1 or 2 times before and they alway waited till the release dated to ship.

the video quality to me looks awsome to me considering this is an allance release that isn't a us port.

accualy all the speical features are all avalible on the bluray. i think the new commtany is exslive to the bluray disc and not on the dvd disc. also the trailers there is a canadain original thetrical triler as wel as a u.s original theatrical trailer.

this is def one of allances better releases most of there stuff is barebones no extras some dont even have menus.

when exotica comes i will post back here again and post the detials for it as well. it might come tomorrow or might take a few days depends if they sent it with tracking or just lettermail

So, they put the SD extras on the BD AND still gave us a DVD copy?

Oh well, it will just sit in the darned case and I can't wait to get my hands on the blu now. I hope Exotica got the same kind of love, although it's not nearly as important to me as The Sweet Hereafter.

ya the dvd is pretty much a coaster lol. everything thats on the dvd is on the bluray.

i've wathed the first 10 mins so far and the quality is great i think u will be pretty happy with it.

Well, please stop "talking" about how great it is, because if inetvideo doesn't ship until the 19th, I probably won't have this to watch until like the 26th.

just finished watching it the video quality excellent. the audio was very good only downside being only have a 2.0 sound track rather then 5.1 athough the dvd also only has a 2.0 track so i'm guessing thats just the way the movie was made. it is a dts hd master audio track though so being a 2.0 track its still pretty awesome quality.

was accualy my first time watching both movies and i enjoy both of them at first i bought them both becuase they had bruce greenwood and ive alway though he was a pretty awesome actor ever senes seeing him in nowhere man way back in the day. he was awesome in both movies.

ya cdplus offers free shipping on all orders with no min purtace amount. they seem to be a good site for getting allance combo packs and i find there prices on stuff released by starz/ancor bay to alway be cheap even cheaper then amazon. they awnser emails pretty quick to and they will even check for u if they have copies with slipcovers witch most sites wont do or just say they have to much stuff they cant check.

I thought we "might" get some word on The Sweet Hereafter 2-5 days after it was released, but your info is early and great and it not only makes me feel more excited to get these on blu, but your information allowed me to cancel my other order so that I can both of these sooner and cheaper.

Just placed an order for both at CDPlus (now Playstop.ca; wouldn't believe how much of a pain in the ass it was to find Sweet Hereafter on there). I'm with VM in that I think Sweet Hereafter is a flat-out masterpiece (and I'd put both Exotica and Felicia's Journey one step below it), so hopefully these Blus will be worth it.
