Default Viera TV owners : Is there a way to expand the . . .

youtube video being wathced to fit the entire screen as opposed to it being on right half of the screen while the left half are the video selections?

Yes, you should be able move the cursor over the video on the right & when you click on the video it makes it full screen.

Yep--You're supposed to be able to watch the video fullscreen, just highlight the window, and click.

Now, the unfortunate side-effect of this is that 4:3 content is stretched to 16:9. Does anybody know how to turn that off?

Tlarge and EricJ, that worked for me. Thanks! Now enjoying video of Ray Charles' "America the Beautiful".

As long as this's on the 3-D forum, I like looking up YouTube's side-by-side YT3D clips, playing them fullscreen and using the Viera's conversion feature:

^ Please be kind enough to walk through how to do what you just wrote. (I fear it won't work with wireless internet connection?)

On a Panny Viera set:
1) Click the window to make the YouTube clip (SBS, not anaglyph) fullscreen, same as usual,

QUICKLY, while it's loading up,
2) Click the 3D Activate button on remote,
3) While the 2D/3D menu is onscreen, click the Red button on remote to bring up Conversion preferences,
4) Select "Side-by-Side = 3D" (or Top/Bottom, depending on the clip)
5) Turn on glasses, if they're not already on.

First off, thanks so much for the replies and patience.

1) I'm assuming your item 1 is referring to youtube clip from the app under Viera Cast (?)
2) My remote sadly don't have a "3D Activate" button. My TV is TC-P50VT20. Is yours different?

I can view the youtube in 3D if I use my laptop that is connected to its own internet and connected to the TV.

But what I don't know is how to use Viera youtube app videos that are in SBS to come out in 3D. When I play the video, then click my "Menu" button, then select "Picture", I could not find selection for 3D formats.

Yep. (I only use VC or PS3 for onscreen Tube, so I wouldn't know.)

If it's a Viera 3DTV (seeing as it's on this forum), it should have one--It's the button for "converting" 2D to 3D when you're watching regular TV, or the button you hit when playing a game and it alerts "3D Signal Detected - Click button".

Not THE menu, but if you click whatever 3D button you have, and then click Red (or Preferences) button while the "2D->3D" choice is still up in the corner, you should get A second menu of how you want your other forms of 3D. "Side-by-Side" should be one of the options available.
I've got the lowest model 3D Pan set, and it's got that, so should be similar enough all around.

The VT20/25 series does not have built in 2D->3D conversion.

Do you have a button that turns the 3D on and off during the movie?

No, there is no single button. You can only disable 3D playback for BD3Ds (e.g., you could watch those Disney 3D movies in 2D if you really wanted to) but you have to go to some menu option to do it (in the same menu you can choose the 3D input (i.e., automatic/native, SBS, O/U, none, or so)). If I remember correctly, you can use that menu during playback of the 3D SBS youtube videos to watch them in 3D. But it's been quite a while since I last tried it.

Thanks basketb for explaining. You're right.

Make no mistake about it. Without using VC, and just solely relying on computer's internet and HDMI attached to TV, the TC-P50VT20/25 CAN convert SBS videos into 3D. The reason I know is I watched SBS youtube videos in 3D on my TV.

No such luck with using VC though. IMHO, maybe it's just because of the limitation of the remote control having no 3D activate button. Because come to think of it, if the TV can convert SBS videos into 3D, THEN IT SHOULD HAVE THE CAPABILITY; it may just need an updated firmware AND a remote control that have the user interface for the 3D formats.

Please find below a picture of the TC-P50VT20/25 remote:

I wonder if anyone has already tried a firmware update.
