![]() Wings Blu-ray Wings Blu-ray Review from classicflix.com According to Paramount, Wings (1927), starring Clara Bow, Charles "Buddy Rogers, Richard Arlen and Gary Cooper, has a solid street date of January 24th. UPDATE: Regarding bonus features, according to Paramount there will be three on the Blu-Ray and one on the standard release: Wings: Grandeur in the Sky Restoring the Power and Beauty of Wings (Blu-Ray Only) Dogfight! (Blu-Ray Only) They are likely featurettes and not documentaries. http://www.classicflix.com/paramount...1ea74f3edc8575 Last edited by Deciazulado; 01-16-2012 at 05:46 AM. |

I think, like most people, I checked this out years ago out of curiosity over it being the first Academy Award Winner. Thinking it would be a fun historical curiosity. But it's actually quite thrilling. It deserves to be remembered as one of the better films of it's day, along with the also nearly forgotten "Blood & Sand"
-- Hmm. It would be ballsy if Paramount put this out as part of it's Sapphire Series. It is a Best Picture winner. |

This is a real surprise, as every "When will Wings come to DVD?"-type discussion that I've read on silent film message boards has referenced what a colossal flop the VHS release was at retail for Paramount. Perhaps Kino's silent Blu-ray discs have done well enough to give Paramount confidence in releasing this film?

I was actually wondering that myself and If they want this series to be taken seriously, they would.
