Ok folks it seems like MGM might be releasing Hitchcock classics Notorious and Rebecca as well as Billy Wilder classic The Apartment on January 24, 2012!
They are all listed for preorder on Amazon.ca and all the distributors are MGM (So it's not a double dip of Notorious the 2009 movie of the same name which was 20th century fox)! Unfortunately the covers have not been posted but I expect an annoucement soon if these are indeed coming out January 24, 2012!!

Man, that's a little disappointing if Rebecca is an MGM, considering they've been letting some films go to Criterion, and they did the original DVD.

Well, it's not surprising, as they released new DVDs of both Rebecca and Notorious in 2008.

Count me in for 'Notorious' (my favorite Hitchcock) and 'The Apartment' (at least one of my top 20 favorite films ever)

In it for Hitchcock!

Also, I found Spellbound, Manhattan and Annie Hall up for pre-order as well.

I'll definitely get The Apartment, Notorious and Annie Hall. Not quite so sure about Rebecca and Manhattan, and I'm not interested in Spellbound. I quite like Manhattan except for that horribly stilted, badly acted (improvised?) scene near the end between Allen and Murphy where they are standing in a school classroom next to a skeleton.
Panasonic Blu-ray players BD65 (UK model), BD75 (Multi-region US model), Denon 2930 DVD player (multi-region), Pioneer CLD1080 LD player, Panasonic EX77 recorder, Denon 3808 receiver, Panasonic 46PZ80 TV, 5.1 speaker system: KEF Reference Model 3 (fronts), KEF Model 200C (centre), Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 (surrounds), SVS SB12-Plus (sub)

Oh to have only been around back in the 40's and 50's for Theatrical Premieres of Sir Alfred Hitchcock's films. Must have been fantastic. I hope he knows now that us fans still love him and his movies and that his films are being preserved on yet another awesome format for us to enjoy all over again.

Wish Universal would get on the ball and start releasing their Hitchcock's. My number one from them would have to be Vertigo.
"If we're about to die anyways, I'd rather die fighting! Come for me Gmork, I am Atreyu!"

"And use some of that cologne Gertrude got you for Christmas."
"Oh do I have to Mother, it smells like ether?"

"With pleasure."

Well there goes my hopes for Criterion BDs of Rebecca and Notorious. All of the titles should hopefully get excellent treatments.

When did MGM start releasing their own titles again? I was under the impression that the films came out under Criterion or Fox.

Haha. I was just a bit confused there, because my other MGM titles have Fox plastered all over them, and I'm under the impression that Fox isn't so nice with their own catalogue titles.
