Default How to organize?

I ordered a lot of blu rays over the last few days, as many of you may have done. I am looking to organize my collection all over again but am not sure of the easiest way to do this. How do all of you organize your collections?

I just go with the old fashioned alphabetical, but I do keep most of my boxed sets on a different shelf...

I go by genre. It just makes sense to me. If I am in the mood for horror, I've got all my horror titles in one spot.

I arrange my blus in alphabetical order. That's the easiest way IMO.

I have a large collection, so I take a few extra steps beyond alphabetical. Firstly, I have separate sections for Foreign Language Films, Television, Anime, Family Friendly Films(for the nieces and nephews), and Criterion Films. Secondly, I take film series, such as Batman, Bond or Bourne and organize them in chronological order.

Since I'm a bit of a stickler in terms of the packaging, any special box packaging or blu-ray booklets are organized in a group separate from the rest of the collection.

I do that too. Boxsets, steel/digibooks go together regardless of genre or affiliations with other films. All standard blu cases then go together by genre. Looks cleaner that way.

+1.

I separate my collection by the Country the release originates from, and then by alphabetical. I do have separate spots though for my Criterion releases, Steelbooks/Metal Packs, TV Shows, and Concert Blu-Rays.

I separate mostly by categories. Like Horror, Comedy, Drama, Thriller. Then alphabetically in each category. Sometimes I'll just feel like watching a horror movie or comedy and be able to just scan the titles easily in that genre without looking through all of them.
In special cases like Criterion they get placed together.

Bro, that's too funny. Please don't take this is a negative manner but you show you have 28 blus. How much organizing do you need to do? You also said you just bought a bunch and would like to organize again. Huh? How many did you have before? I apologize, but it just strikes me in a funny way. You're all right man

I was thinking the same. Maybe he hasn't added all his movies to the site.

I have a rack with three shelves: Animation on top, Action in the middle, Drama and everything else on bottom with all my wifes classic VHS movies. (Movies on the shelves in no particular order). If I put them in order it would drive me crazy if my wife or sons did not put them back in order, besides I do not have as many movies as other forum members.

I keep everything alphabetically except my Bond movies which are arranged in release order. My other catagories are television, animae, digibooks and misc.

I separate them into categories, which are(in order on the shelf): Boxed sets, Digibooks, BDs with slipcovers, Criterions, and BDs without slips in plain plastic cases. Within those categories they are organized by studio and then within that year of release.
