FYI, Jaws 3D (aka Jaws 3) was set at Sea World and featured Brody's 2 sons as young adults (Dennis Quaid played Michael Brody). It was an interesting idea with the new setting, but unfortunately it's not very good. Like the other 3D horror movies of the time, it features lots of scenes of people awkwardly sticking things directly into the camera. It's not quite as laughably bad as Part 4, but you're seriously not missing anything. Only the first 2 are worthwhile, and even then Part 2 isn't for everybody.

Also hoping the original mono track is lossless. If it's the case of PSYCHO, which the UK release has the original track as lossless, I'll import. Hopefully Spielberg tells them to have the original mono track as lossless too for the USA release. Doesn't matter since Universal only uses generic disc label artwork and now all Universal Blu-ray releases will be imported from Amazon.co.uk Because yep I'm finicky about this.
Still going to keep the 30th Anniversary DVD with the slipcase and booklet. Similar to others I'd own JAWS 2 on Blu-ray but iffy about JAWS 3-D. Hell, the only JAWS fims I own on DVD are of course JAWS 30th 2-Disc and JAWS 2.
Spielberg is one of those directors where I'm going to own all their directorial filmography on Blu-ray disc format.

that's funny, i looked it up awhile ago and i had no idea the 3rd one was the 3d version... i knew there was a part 3 but i never watched it... i figured the 3d version was something that came out in the past couple of years that i just didn't pay any attention to, not something that came out a year after i was born lol

The wikipedia article for Jaws 4 is a hoot:

Quote:
(The film) earned the lowest amount of money in the series, and due to its many plot holes and inconsistencies, is considered one of the worst movies ever made, with a rare 0% rating on the review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes (in contrast to the original Jaws film, which maintains a rare 100% rating 36 years after its release).

Caine... claimed: "I have never seen it [the film], but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific!"

The August release date puzzles me as well. I would have expected late June.

Jaws 3D is a hell of a head scratcher. Can't see many purchases there.

From a business perspective I'm surprised we don't have a box set Jaws 1-4 and individual cuts of Jaws 1 & 2. Of course, I'm sure this is all down the road anyway.

I agree, would have been perfect. Most new release come out on Tuesday. July 3rd will be on Tuesday this year ...

Can't wait to get a hold of this again. When I converted to Blu last January I jumped in with both feet and Ebayed almost all my DVDs. I've gotten pretty lucky with all the great releases this year and have managed to rebuild most of my DVD collection in Blu and then some.

Here's to swimmin' with bow-legged women ....

I'm looking forward to hearing the theme with rich sound and bass. Jurassic Park was released with great audio. But I don't know about the picture. I hope Universal doesn't botch that part.

I agree. Unless I see an announcement on here or on the Digital Bits, to me it's still hearsay. But I will say that I am looking forward to getting this when it comes out.

A lot of people are treating this as confirmation of the "leaked" 2012 slate of Universal titles when it's far more likely that this Jaws site just recycled that same unverified info.
