Default So how about those Beatles Blu-ray Audios?

So how about those Beatles Blu-ray Audio discs for their 50th anniversary as was announced last year that would kick off this format with the public? Those are awesome! Packed with hours and hours of bonus features of music and film in gorgeous hardback books with slipcases! Only MiChAeL JaCkSoN could do better!!!

Never even heard about this. Have a link?

For now, I'm sticking with the high-resolution FLAC files I have.

Now that you mention it, I do seem to remember reading something about putting the Beatles on BR to take advantage/launch BR audio in 2012.

Perhaps we'll hear something soon.

It was heavily speculated at the time of the remasters launch that the albums would make it to Blu-ray in 2012. That does not look likely now, unless they decide to do it for the fans. Blu-ray audio titles are not a viable platform to sell to the mass market.

Personally I feel that with The Beatles, ANY format is a viable platform to sell to the mass market.

They could release these on cassette and people would buy them just as collectors. Of course Blu-ray makes more sense, the speculation was that we would see them come out in 2012 and there's still 3 quarters left in my book. However I also feel like they'll be doing vinyl first, then Blu-ray; but as both are niche formats it would make sense to do them both at the same time.

I would love it if they would put some of the Beatles concerts on blu ray. Like maybe a box set of the Ed Sullivan Show performances. The Shea Stadium concert would be awesome to have on blu ray.

I completely forgot about the rumored vinyl editions, those were supposedly coming within six to nine months after the CD remasters came out. That obviously did not happen.

Magical Mystery Tour Blu-ray

Wonder if it's be running at 25fps and if it'll include the original mono and Rom Furmanek's LD Stereo re-mixes too in addition to probably new 5.1s

I played the Beatles Love DVD-Audio in 5.1 the other night. Excellent! Still available on Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk I think.

Oh I agree, the 5.1 DVD-A of Love sounds absolutely stunning, as if the Beatles were recorded today. And the 5.1 mixes work so well with the sort of mashup Beatles approach to the music of Love. Brilliant work, Sir George Martin!
