Default Pillow Talk (1959) Blu-ray May 1st 2012 Pre-order

Pillow Talk Blu-ray

Allegedly the 1959 romantic comedy classic is coming to Blu-ray on May 1, 2012 according to the webpage DVD News Flash. Hopefully this isn't just a rumor and hopefully Universal has completely restored this wonderful film. Wish we could get a Digi-book.

Blu-ray WishList: 'Seconds'(1966) 'The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane'(1976), 'Mildred Pierce'(1945), 'Legend of Lizzie Borden'(1975 TV Movie), 'The Howling'(1981), 'Valley of the Dolls'(1967), 'A Place in the Sun'(1951), 'Sunset Boulevard'(1950), and many films of Joan Crawford, Rock Hudson, Montgomery Clift, Elizabeth Taylor, James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart, etc.

One of my dad's favorite. He always had a think for Doris Day (think colonel Potter in MASH)

May 1st was the date given on the list posted in the Criterion Forum earlier in December. Quite a few of the release dates and titles have been spot on. Here's the list posted on BR.com.

Foreign films that need to be on blu-ray:
Raise The Red Lantern (1991, Zhang), The Best of Youth (2003, Giordana), Still Life (2006, Jia), 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (2007, Mungiu)

One of my favorite Doris Day films! I hope Universal does a great job with the transfer.

I wish Universal would also release "Midnight Lace" which showcases one of a few dramatic roles Doris Day ever did. Midnight Lace wasn't even released on DVD in the US!

I emailed Universal asking if and when Pillow Talk will be released. I also inquired as to whether or not the packaging will be in a digibook. I received the following reply:

Thank you for contacting us.

No date has been announced for the Blu-ray release of "Pillow Talk." A multitude of factors influence the timing and content of our releases. Unfortunately, no further information is available at this time.

For a listing of upcoming releases, please check our website periodically at: http://www.nbcuniversalstore.com. You might also wish to subscribe to our online newsletter for product announcements at http://signup.universalstudios.com/form/39.

We appreciate your interest and hope that you will continue to enjoy Universal products.

Sincerely,

Consumer Relations
UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOME ENTERTAINMENT

Anyone know anything different? This site has a release date of 5-1-12. I really hope one of my favorite movies will be released.

Default Happy Birthday to me!

That's weird, this is one of my top 3 movies of all-time and May 1 is my birthday. I've bought two DVD and a VHS release over the years and they have all looked run down to me. Hope it is a nice transfer.

Really looking forward to this one. If done properly the colours should be really vivid on blu. I hope they don't take too long issuing the other Day/Hudson films and the ones she made with James Garner. Hudson's film with Paula Prentiss, Man's Favorite Sport?, deserves a blu as well

It did sound to me like the email I received from Universal was a generic form sent out to people with questions about releases that haven't been "officially" set in stone. Hopefully I'm just panicking for nothing.

It's going to be a Pillow Talk movie-party for sure at my place in May!

Also hoping we see Lover Come Back soon on Blu-ray... basicaly "Pillow Talk 2" but one of my all time faves as well. "Just a Touuuuuch...."
LOSSLESS audio... something that belongs on EVERY Blu-ray Disc. Every one. Warner and Paramount: take a lesson.

If it's not 1.5 screen widths, it's not "Home Theater" -it's TV.
