I'm sure I'll eventually pick it up, when it's on sale, even if that means waiting a year or two. But, I can't justify new release premiums, when the release so blatantly exploits the home video collector market.
I assumed the extended cut would have been a seamless branching thing, but it's not... Both versions of the movie are encoded separately on the disc. The theatrical is DTS-HD MA, but the extended is DD5.1. (And, to add insult to injury, it's only 448k instead of 640k that everyone uses for Blu-ray if they aren't doing lossless...)

The disc is 38.9GB in size. A DTS-HD MA 7.1 lossless track for a 2-hour movie tends to be in the 3.5-4.5 GB range. This is a 90-minute movie, 5.1 audio, and probably not a huge dynamic range to push the lossless bitrate very high. I'd bet the MA track would be around 3 GB tops. Absolutely NO excuse for not putting it on the disc...

I think you are right- they simply don't care... I just don't understand why they wouldn't do it... Doesn't cost anything to encode MA... Unless they just wanted to use the 5.1 audio from the DVD? Save them 2-hours of computer encoding time? I can't think of anything that makes sense...

Yeah, mine had a few of them. I might have forgot to put the s on the end of scenes.

He's asking if the other guy saw the one specific deleted scene referred to in the spoiler tag. He's not saying that there's no other deleted scenes on the disc.

I'll admit I was disappointed by this film, but then again, there's not much you can do with a Christmas story so I blame the writers for phoning this one in so hopefully, they'll make a better sequel (Harold & Kumar Go To Vegas preferably.)

With that said, Neil Patrick Harris once again stole the show and I want a Waffle Bot damn it!

I think the franchise is done. It was a three movie deal. I dont see them regaining the magic if they try again in 5-7 years or so and they are even older.
